Bombshell: NYC tanning salons inspected more often than abortion clinics

investigate

Abortion is a big business in New York, aided and abetted by politicians eager to make it even more commonplace than it already is. The abortion rate is double than the national average, with over a third of all pregnancies ending in abortion. That rate is even higher for black women living in New York City, where more babies die from abortion than are born. But of course, none of that is enough for the scalpel-happy abortion advocates in New York, who want to make it even more widespread.

Perhaps that explains the bombshell documents that the New York Post obtained, which showed that city officials inspect tanning salons more often than they do abortion clinics.

The state Health Department is failing to inspect many of New York’s abortion clinics — with some facilities escaping scrutiny for more than a decade, bombshell documents obtained by The Post reveal.

Health inspectors regulate 25 diagnostic and treatment clinics and surgery centers that provide abortion services — though pro-choice advocates say there are 225 abortion service providers in New York state.

Eight of the 25 clinics were never inspected over the 2000-12 span, five were inspected just once, and eight were inspected only twice or three times — meaning once every four or six years.

A total of just 45 inspections were conducted at all 25 facilities during the 12-year period.

By comparison, city eateries are inspected every year and graded, while a new law requires tanning salons to undergo inspections at least once every other year.

The health department responded to the documents by saying that they only inspect a limited number of clinics, and the ones they do inspect aren’t inspected often. Gee, clinics going uninspected for years and years on end… who does that remind you of?

This information was obtained after the Chiaroscuro Foundation filed a Freedom of Information lawsuit so they could find out how often clinics were being inspected. They did so in response to the Kermit Gosnell atrocities, when it came to light that Gosnell’s clinic hadn’t been inspected in 15 years, despite repeated complaints and violations being filed.

The absolute insanity is that pro-abortion activists will defend this to the ground, and they’ll fight, tooth and nail, any attempt to force clinics to be better regulated. Safe, legal, and rare? Please. Safety isn’t nearly as important to these people as widespread abortion is.

We’ve seen it time and time again, in state after state, as abortion advocates rail against calls for more inspections and regulations, even when the clinics are found to be operating in disgusting, filthy conditions. Tattoo parlors, veterinary clinics, tanning salons… all of these have stricter regulations than most abortion clinics do. Leaving the abortion part of it out, these are medical facilities, and should be treated as such. Why is it that abortion clinics are somehow exempt from the standards every single other medical facility is held to?

Abortion activists claim that criminalizing abortion will take us back to the days of back alley, coat hanger abortions (which didn’t actually exist, of course). But really, are the clinics we have right now any better than that? Are pro-abortion extremists who fight regulations and inspections to keep women safe truly any better than the back alley butchers they claim to despise?
