At a press conference today, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced that the DOJ will review the investigative videos about Planned Parenthood.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch said Wednesday her department is going to review all information surrounding the controversial videos of Planned Parenthood officials taken by an anti-abortion group.
“I’m aware of those matters generally from the media, and from some inquiries that have been made to the Department of Justice, and again at this point we’re going to review all the information and determine what steps, if any, to take at the appropriate time,” Lynch said when asked about the videos at a press conference.
Lawmakers have been pushing on the DOJ to investigate Planned Parenthood, and while this is not a commitment to do so, it is a step in the right direction. At least we can hope that Attorney General Lynch, unlike President Obama, will actually view the condemning videos.
The American public will need to keep a close eye on exactly what Lynch and the DOJ do, as the announcement could become a way to divert public attention while sweeping Planned Parenthood’s likely violations under the rug – especially given the recent insistence by the White House that Planned Parenthood is “ethical.”
Senators and Congressmen – as well as the public – need to continue to insist that the DOJ actually investigate Planned Parenthood, and not merely “review” all of the information.
While the Attorney General’s office determines what steps to take, let’s keep the pressure on until Planned Parenthood is found out for what it truly is: an abortion giant, full of taxpayer dollars, with little regard for the law or the lives of women and children.
