Chicago Planned Parenthood sends woman to the hospital with severe bleeding
A woman was sent to the hospital after a botched abortion, which took place at the same Chicago Planned Parenthood facility where a pro-life sidewalk counselor was assaulted in January.
Operation Rescue received the 911 recording from Pro-Life Action League of Chicago after an emergency took place on May 23. The conversation between the 911 dispatcher and the Planned Parenthood staffer indicated that the woman may have suffered a lacerated or perforated uterus.
“We have a patient post-procedure hemorrhaging,” the staffer began, saying the patient was under sedation before giving more details about the situation. “Doctor has inserted a catheter, she has, um, added sutures. She’s gonna receive Methergine.”
As usual for abortion emergencies, the ambulance was instructed to go to the back of the building.

The comments about the patient hemorrhaging and needing sutures indicate that the woman potentially had her uterus or another vital organ lacerated or perforated, though no specific details are known at this moment. Operation Rescue also noted that Methergine is often used to treat or prevent excessive bleeding after childbirth… but that a clinical trial testing its usage after an abortion found that it caused more bleeding, not less. A foley catheter is also known to be used stop heavy bleeding; it’s a tactic previously used by the Flossmoor Planned Parenthood facility.

Lacerations and perforations are also known risks of surgical abortions, particularly those taking place in the second or third trimester. Numerous organs can be injured during the procedure, including the uterus, cervix, bowel, bladder, rectum, and more.
This particular facility also has a history of injuring women, with two women there injured within two days in 2020.
“We hope and pray this woman survived this horrific ordeal,” Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said in a statement. “It is all so senseless. A baby didn’t have to die that day, and this woman did not have to be maimed or possibly killed.”
