“Choose Life” license plate bill passed by Wisconsin State Assembly

The Wisconsin State Assembly passed a bill last Thursday that will allow for the creation and sale of “Choose Life” licenses plates. If passed by the State Senate next spring and signed by the governor, it will become law.

Proceeds from the sale of these specialized plates will be given to pregnancy care centers within Wisconsin through the direction of Choose Life Wisconsin, Inc., a non-profit that was set up to handle the sale of the plates.

According to Matt Sande, Director of Legislation for Pro-Life Wisconsin:

The ‘Choose Life’ plate will provide a wonderful opportunity for Wisconsinites to express their pro-life beliefs and facilitate and encourage adoption as a positive, life-affirming choice for women with unplanned pregnancies.

Choose Life America, Inc., reports that since the first “Choose Life” license plates became available in 2000 in Florida, over $16.3 million in proceeds have gone to adoption and the pro-life cause. Wisconsin hopes to become the 30th state to offer the plates.

Matt Sande believes that the sale of these plates will be a success:

Pro-Life Wisconsin has experienced increasing demand for a ‘Choose Life’ license plate in Wisconsin over the last five years…. We are very proud of the plate design sporting our state’s signature red, white, and black colors, an image of a baby’s ink footprint, and the positive ‘Choose Life’ moniker. We are confident that the plate will sell quickly.
