Conflict of interest: Abortion lobby donates big bucks to House committee

What comes out of one side of the abortion industry is a plea for government funding, donations to help women have abortions, and other alleged “needs” for money to kill babies. But the fact is, much of that money goes right back into the government’s coffers anyway – through campaign donations to those who are supportive of abortion. Recently, Open Secrets published the amount of money that the abortion industry had donated to the six members of the House Select Investigative Panel investigating Planned Parenthood, showing not only a conflict of interest but some heavily-lined pocketbooks.

The panel, which is charged with investigating Planned Parenthood, has received over $400,000 among just the six Democratic members. Open Secrets shows the breakdown

If a judge were accepting donations, even personally, from a defendant in a case, the judge would be called to recuse him or herself for such a blatant conflict of interest. That judge could not be fair to someone who was a partner, not simply a defendant in the courtroom. What is baffling is how anyone thinks that these members of Congress are fit to sit on this committee given the circumstances.  These numbers are not small donations. They are sizable chunks of cash from the whole of the abortion lobby, as well as Planned Parenthood itself, that absolutely influence bias. These members would have to be super-human to not see that ruling against Planned Parenthood would cost them their big bucks with all of the abortion lobby.

Having members of Congress who are funded by some of the people they are paid to render a judgment about is like asking Hitler to appoint his leaders to sit on a panel to decide if more Jews could die. It’s a crime on top of a crime; however, in American politics, it’s legal, even though it’s unjust and unethical.

But these Democratic members of the committee hearing the case against Planned Parenthood are too busy counting all those dollars to care about justice.
