A federal district court judge has ruled in favor of blocking enforcement of the HHS mandate against Tom Monaghan and his company, Domino’s Farms Corporation. According to the Thomas More Law Center, which filed the Emergency Motion for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO), Federal District Court Judge Lawrence P. Zatkoff of the Eastern District of Michigan ruled that the mandate, which requires employers to provide contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drug coverage in health care plans, cannot be enforced against Monaghan.
(You can read my original article on this case here.)
If the ruling had not been made in Monaghan’s favor, he would have been forced to violate his religious beliefs or violate federal law on January 1st.
The TRO was filed on December 21, 2012 by the Thomas More Law Center’s Erin Mersino. Mersino filed a complaint for Declaratory Judgment and Injunctive Relief on December 14, 2012.
An appeal of the ruling is expected.
Live Action will continue to cover this and other cases against the HHS Mandate.
