Patient of D.C. abortionist leaves shocking Google Review asking if her baby survived abortion

abortion, hand, baby, born alive

A patient who allegedly received an abortion at the Washington Surgi-Clinic in Washington, D.C., is questioning whether her baby may have been born alive at 27 weeks of pregnancy. The horrific details were written in a shocking Google Review just prior to the news that pro-life activists had obtained the bodies of aborted children from the facility.

Washington Surgi-Clinic stands accused of allegedly committing later abortions on the five aborted children now in the possession of the D.C. Medical Examiner’s Office, after local authorities retrieved them from the home of pro-life activist Lauren Handy. Medical experts who reviewed the photos of the babies claim the infants could be victims of partial-birth abortion, which is a federally illegal procedure. Pro-lifers have also requested an investigation to determine whether any of the babies in the photos were killed after being born alive.

Pro-life activist AJ Hurley, who claimed on social media that he was with Handy at the time she came into possession of the remains, added some additional insights on where the babies were obtained. He wrote on Facebook, “These are the victims picked up by Lauren Handy. The real house of Horrors is Washington Surgi Clinic and Dr. Cesare F. Santangelo.” Hurley also uploaded video of the box from Curtis Bay Medical Waste, which allegedly contained the bodies. The company has been allegedly tied to other abortion facilities like Planned Parenthood, and to a facility owned by infamous abortionist James Pendergraft, according to pro-life activists in Florida and Maryland. According to a local journalist’s tweet, Curtis Bay denied the remains came from them and told WUSA9 it does not handle or transport any fetal remains.

Washington Surgi-Clinic is listed as a member of the National Abortion Federation (NAF) and according to the website, is located at 2112 F Street NW, Su 400, Washington, D.C. 20037. Online, the abortion facility openly acknowledges it commits abortions up to 27 weeks. Records on file with the DC Property Tax offices shows that this location is owned by Cesare Santangelo, an abortionist previously exposed in Live Action’s undercover video footage.

The shocking Google Review alleges the abortion client changed her mind about the abortion just one day into the three-day procedure.

I went in for a 3 day procedure and only went In for 1 day  I changed my mind and decided to not go through and the items inserted had fell out so I took it as a sign to keep the baby,” she wrote. But “hours later I was in pain and when I called the doctor he said it was normal for me to take another sleeping pill  early morning I woke up covered in blood barely conscious falling in a out of sleep at some point I tried to get out of bed to call for help crawling on the floor to my phone on the table.”

At this point, her review claims that the facility sent a Hispanic staffer to her hotel, which was located next door to the abortion facility — a tactic often used by facilities that commit abortions late in pregnancy.

“I dialed them and they said to come right away because it was right next door to the hotel I told them I couldn’t stand  I knocked out and was laying in my own blood for hours on the floor the Hispanic lady came to my hotel room hours after with a wheelchair and told me that I had to get myself into the chair because there was no way she could help lift me which I was only 127 pounds literally 4’11 I struggled trying to lift myself up I don’t understand why they didn’t decide to bring an extra person,” the patient wrote.

The client claims she did not “know exactly what happened” or whether the baby had even been born alive.

“I was in labor I don’t remember what happened exactly or even if he was born alive at 27 weeks. When I asked questions no one told me anything other than “that wasn’t suppose to happen”. It’s been months and all I feel is regret & definitely traumatized.” She then recounts the trauma of delivering her child. “After I pushed him out I didn’t even get a glance at him because she rushed out the room .I honestly wish I would’ve called an ambulance or at least gotten answers to my questions or the option to have him buried and I know I have no right because I signed the papers but it didn’t go as planned and I changed my mind.. I would be lying if I said it doesn’t keep be up and caused me to have severe anxiety  the aftermath is far worse with the body changes and not knowing.”

In a separate review left about the abortion facility, only a year ago, an alleged abortion client claimed she paid thousands of dollars for an abortion that landed her in the hospital. Her baby was revived but later died. She wrote“I went for a abortion and I paid 5,000 in cash. Just to be rush to the hospital on my third day with my baby being revived and she died July 30th 2020 a day before my birthday because the doctor lied to me about the pills and didn’t want to come in the office early enough. Almost died in the shower pass out. Thank God angels for waking me up allowing me to call a ambulance. Still till this day they don’t know what happened to me or reach out to see if I was alive or not. Do not and I repeat do not go here!!!!!””

While several reviews on various platforms reviewed the facility positively, there were others who confirmed they felt unable to change their minds about their abortions.

And, according to the Washington Times other reviews read: “Worst place ever. This is an overcrowded meat market,” one woman wrote in 2011. “I almost died in here and they were about to let me,” wrote another.

Cesare Santangelo is not just an owner of the facility — he commits abortions there. The facility website is clearly listed as his “business address” at the Medical Licensing agency for D.C.

In 2013, when asked if a baby had ever survived an abortion at Dr. Santangelo’s facility, the abortionist admitted to Live Action on undercover footage (see video below) that “that’s happened before.” When it occurs, he told Live Action’s investigator, “we would not help it – we would not intubate.”

To guarantee the child expires after an abortion attemp, Santangelo said that he cuts a baby’s umbilical cord and waits for the child to die by cardiac arrest.

“We would do things – we would – we would not help it,” he told Live Action’s undercover investigator in 2013. “Let’s say. We wouldn’t – we wouldn’t uh, intubate, let’s say. Ok? Yeah, we wouldn’t do any extra – you know? … It would be, you know, uh – a person that would be – a terminal person in the hospital, let’s say – that had cancer. You know? You wouldn’t do any extra procedures to help that person survive.”

He similarly told an investigator that “in your pregnancy, it’s too early to survive, usually. It will expire shortly after birth.” That particular pregnancy was identified by him to be “24-25 weeks along.”

Investigation pressure

The D.C. Medical Examiner’s office is tasked to investigate criminal abortion. The website notes, “Pursuant to regulations established by the Mayor, the following types of human deaths occurring in the District of Columbia shall be investigated by the OCME: Violent deaths, whether apparently homicidal, suicidal or accidental including deaths due to thermal, chemical, electrical or radiation injury and deaths due to criminal abortion, whether apparently self-induced or not…”

To date, the D.C. medical examiner (ME) has indicated they have no intention of investigating whether the five infants were killed by potentially illegal methods. District statutes on autopies allows for either the ME or the United States Attorney to request an inquiry. “In the case of unexplained, sudden, violent, or suspicious death, when the body is buried without investigation, or there has been an inadequate investigation, the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, on the United States Attorney’s own motion, or at the request of a medical examiner, the Metropolitan Police Department, or another law enforcement agency, may petition the appropriate court for an order to conduct an inquiry.”

It goes on to list specific examples, excerpted below:

  • Violent deaths, whether apparently homicidal, suicidal, or accidental, including deaths due to thermal, chemical, electrical or radiation injury and deaths due to criminal abortion, whether apparently self-induced or not;
  • Deaths of persons whose bodies are to be cremated, dissected, buried at sea or otherwise disposed of so as to be thereafter unavailable for examination;
  • Deaths related to medical or surgical intervention, including operative, peri-operative, anesthesia, medication reactions or deaths associated with diagnostic or therapeutic procedures;
  • Fetal deaths related to maternal trauma, including substance abuse, and extra-mural deliveries;
  • Dead bodies brought within the District without proper medical certification

Lila Rose, Founder and President of Live Action, responded to the D.C. police and ME’s office decision not to conduct autopsies or investigate the circumstances of the children’s deaths a dereliction of their duty. “Conducting autopsies for these children is the absolute minimum required to ensure that federal and state laws were not violated in their deaths,” Rose said in a statement published online.
