Family celebrates newborn with special name… who arrived on an extra special day

One Missouri family experienced an unexpected blessing last month, when newborn Daniel Nelson Lesinski III was born on March 26 — the birthday shared by both his father and grandfather, who also share the same name.

Dad Daniel Lesinski Jr. told Good Morning America that the family hadn’t really considered that the trio would be sharing their birthday since baby Danny wasn’t due until April 1. However, things changed when his wife Heidi had to go in for an emergency c-section — an occurrence which Daniel realized would coincide with the family birthdays.

“This guy wanted to come in and create a little bit of fireworks for his birthday and mine and [his grandfather’s],” he said.

“From my perspective, it’s always been cool to share the same birthday as my dad,” he told PEOPLE. “But now to have this happen… the only thing that has crossed my mind is what are us three going to do special next year.”

“I always wanted to carry on the Daniel name, and the fact that it happened on our birthday is even better,” he added.

He also called the infant’s arrival a “miracle” since he and his wife experienced a miscarriage last year. “This was not by any stretch of the imagination, something that I ever had on my radar a year ago,” he said.

Grandpa Daniel Lesinski Sr. was also overjoyed with the family’s newest arrival.

“I’ve got 13 grandkids and obviously, we’ve been blessed so many times. And this is just an incredible honor for my wife and I to be able to have this [grandbaby] and obviously have him named after me,” he told GMA. “We’re just extremely over the moon happy, really.”

Baby Danny has already joined big sisters Lainey and Avie at home, and the family is settling into their routine as a family of five.

“He’s doesn’t cry often. When he does, it’s usually when he’s hungry. Luckily, he’s a great eater,” Lesinski Jr. said.
