Gordon Ramsay and wife welcome sixth living baby after stillbirth: ‘One more bundle of love’

Celebrity chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay and his wife, Tana, have welcomed their sixth baby, a boy named Jesse James Ramsay — an arrival that was cherished by the entire Ramsay family. The Ramsays announced the news on Saturday, just days after Gordon turned 57.

“What an amazing birthday present,” he wrote on Instagram. “[P]lease welcome Jesse James Ramsay, 7lbs 10oz whopper!! One more bundle of love to the Ramsay brigade!! 3 boys, 3 girls… Done.”

Tana, 49, likewise posted on Instagram, sharing numerous pictures of her cuddling Baby Jesse, and with one picture showing the moment big brother Oscar got to meet the new arrival.

“It’s been a nerve wracking 9 months but we’ve made it and we have been blessed with this little bundle,” she said. “Ramsay family definitely complete. Jesse James Ramsay we love you so much.”

Other members of the Ramsay family joined in to welcome little Jesse, including big sister Tilly, who turned 22 last week also. “Welcome to the world Jesse James Ramsay!!” she wrote on Instagram. “Feeling so lucky to have another amazing brother and to be a big sister again!!”

Holly Ramsay also posted, writing, “Welcome to the world Jesse James. I’m a big sister again and my heart is so full. [Mom] you are a rockstar.”

The Ramsays now have six living children; in addition to newborn Jesse, there is Megan, twins Jack and Holly, Tilly, and Oscar. Sadly, another of the Ramsay children was lost to stillbirth, as baby Rocky passed away at five months gestation, two years before Oscar was born. The family still remembers and honors Rocky — even as they are urged to be silent about him.

Tana posted about the seven-year anniversary of Rocky’s death earlier this year. “Little did we know, a few days later I would be holding our little boy Rocky — born with a strong heartbeat, but too little to survive. Although it’s 7 years today, it still feels like yesterday. We all miss you everyday. We love you Rocky, forever in our hearts.”

Gordon likewise spoke to PEOPLE about their loss. “Losing Rocky was really tough, and then just being there and watching the trauma unfold, it’s just this life-changing moment,” he said. “A: I was grateful that we were there together. B: Tana always struggled with her bloods and so there was always issues with getting bloods absolutely right. So there was this incredible celebration that she was pregnant and everything was going fine. And all of a sudden it just changes within 24 hours. So, I think if anything it brought the whole family together, closer; Jack’s still got the little dog tag with Rocky. And we’ve got these incredible bits of jewelry together that we connect through.”

Yet rather than respond with compassion, many chose to answer with cruelty:

“As sad and tragic as this is, which is very much is. He didn’t lose a child[,] he lost a fetus,” wrote janate66, “it’s not he same. It was not viable on its own. Still sad, but different. People can move on from losing a fetus as tough as it is, no one (except for psychopaths) get over losing a child.” She added in a separate comment, “Yes people who have lost a fetus can move on, but not those who have lost a child.”

Mindlesswitterings commented, “The fetus wasn’t viable with life, therefore it cannot die.”

Likewise, simulation_workwear wrote, “‘Rocky’ was a fetus who wasn’t alive and couldn’t die.”

Commenter flat_earth_mom wrote, “A Foetus is not a child.”

And elsinore71 wrote, “Lost a fetus so sorry.”

Johnnydub1974 simply stated, “In USA it’s not a baby until it exists [sic] the birth giver.”

And codymayshare cruelly told the family to get over it, writing, “You can honor the children that would have been but this is too much. 7 years ago? You had Oscar since then.”

In September, Ramsay told PEOPLE Tana was ready to have another one, though he didn’t divulge her pregnancy. “I’m going to be at school celebrating sports day with a f—ing walker!” he said. “‘Hey, who’s your granddad?’ ‘That’s my dad, actually.’ So I’m not too sure how many knee hip replacements they’ll get by the time they get 21, but I’m going to try.”
