Harry Styles and the hypocrisy of valuing only some preborn lives

Last month, singer Harry Styles brought his concert to a halt so a pregnant fan could use the bathroom, and even voted on a name for the preborn baby. Styles has become known for paying special attention to his fans during his concerts, including helping with gender reveals and pointing out signs for marriage proposals.

But as Live Action’s Sami Parker explained, Styles needs to stick to a consistent life ethic.

Pregnant fans

The pregnant woman caught the attention of Styles by asking for his help in naming her baby. But before he could give his vote, the woman said she needed to use the bathroom.

He asked the crowd, “I think we all agree that it’s important that Sian goes for a wee, don’t we?”

“If you go for a wee,” says Styles, “I’m gonna stall. […] Elliott, take her for a wee, will ya? Sian, you won’t miss a thing. If you hurry up, you won’t miss a thing.”

When she returned, he then helped her choose between four names for her baby, asking the crowd for feedback.

Fans, of course, reacted with praise. “He’s always gentle and kind with pregnant women,” wrote one fan. “So sweet and understanding.”

The week prior, Styles popped a balloon given to him by a fan while he was onstage, revealing to the crowd that her preborn baby is a girl.

Pro-abortion

In September 2022, however, Styles made it known that he supports abortion. “No one can tell you what to do with your own body, it’s yours,” he said while performing in Texas.

He made similar remarks in May of 2022, saying, “There’s a lot of people who are taking the right steps to try and make positive things [happen], and I think obviously people who don’t like that are kind of clawing to grapple back any ground that they feel like they’ve lost, which never belonged to them in the first place. I don’t think anyone should be able to make decisions about anyone else’s body.”

He added, “There should be backlash and uproar for these things.”

Consistent life ethic

Styles is showcasing the inconsistent life ethic that is so prevalent among abortion supporters who celebrate preborn children who are deemed ‘wanted’ while supporting a violent death for those labeled ‘unwanted’.

“Harry Styles, let’s have a quick chat, K?” said Sami Parker on Instagram. “You have incredible talent and very good music, but you also promote killing preborn people. And that’s a really big problem. And before you say, ‘Oh those are humans but they’re not really people deserving of equal rights for X, Y, Z reason, just know that that’s the exact same worldview that drove the worst human rights injustices of all time. It’s a really dangerous worldview to hold.”

Parker pointed to the gender reveals and announcements that Styles has showcased during his concerts and noted how he treated the pregnant mom with “extra love and care” by encouraging her to take a bathroom break while he paused his show.

“But it’s against the rules of moral consistency to celebrate the gender or the existence of this precious baby girl if you would also promote killing that same baby girl in her mother’s womb in the name of ‘choice’ if her parents didn’t want her,” said Parker.

She called on Styles to protect innocent life and to demand that pregnant women and their preborn babies be treated better by society using his “massive influence on our culture.”
