Operation Rescue reports that Hope Clinic in Granite City, Illinois, has injured another woman, with a 911 call from May 22 indicating that a 31-year-old woman was experiencing “heavier than normal bleeding” after an abortion procedure.
Though the 911 caller gave little information as to the patient’s condition, hemorrhaging is a known abortion risk, often due to uterine perforation. The Hope Clinic facility advertises abortions through 24 weeks of pregnancy; the most common procedure at this late stage is dilation and evacuation (D&E).
This is a procedure in which the abortionist uses a Sopher clamp to grasp the preborn child’s limbs and dismember her, removing her from the uterus, usually in pieces. Afterward, the abortionist uses a tool called a curette to scrape the lining of the uterus and ensure that no pieces of the child’s body are left behind. Complications may include uterine perforation, laceration, infection, hemorrhage, or death.

There have been dozens of documented injuries at Hope Clinic. Pro-life witnesses have documented at least 15 emergency transfers from the facility in 2023 alone. Like this one, the majority of these requests were for transport to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center in nearby St. Louis, Missouri, equipped to deal with the most serious of injuries.
“Although we do not know the outcome of what happened to this woman after her medical emergency, we pray for her and for the many other women who have suffered similarly at the hands of abortionists and the abortion cartel,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “We cannot ignore the fact that the abortion cartel is dangerous. Abortionists try to evade accountability in order to keep making blood money from butchering babies and injuring women without consequences. We will keep praying for the salvation of these people and a real change of heart. And, in the meantime, we will keep fighting by all legal means to protect the lives of mothers and children.”
