The team behind 3801 Lancaster: American Tragedy, a film about the crimes and media coverage of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell, has screenings tentatively scheduled for eleven cities, but is spreading the word that it needs to meet certain minimum ticket sales to ensure theaters will run the documentary.
“Gosnell could have been stopped more than 20 years ago. But people chose to look the other way. And as a result, women and babies died,” writer and director David Altrogge says. “Please consider attending one of the screenings and inviting your friends to attend as well.”
The film’s website says it “tells a story of violence, greed, and a coverup that shook the nation.” Live Action previously reported that another Gosnell documentary, by conservative filmmakers Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney, began filming in September, but one of the elements distinguishing 3801 Lancaster will be a series of “unprecedented” and “candid” interviews with Gosnell himself.
“Nothing was off limits,” the site says, “his childhood, medical school, the trial, even the ‘snippings.'”
Altrogge is looking for people to reserve tickets in the following cities:
- Manayunk, PA
- Greenville, SC
- Colorado Springs, CO
- Lititz, PA
- College Station, TX
- Gaithersburg, MD
- Pittsburgh, PA
- San Antonio, TX
- Larkspur, CA
- Alexandria, VA
- Phoenix, AZ
