Less than 1% of Minnesota abortions due to rape or incest state report finds

This new survey data released by the Minnesota Department of Health shows that 73 out of 11,500 abortions performed in Minnesota last year were due to rape or incest. This come out to 0.63% or just over sixth-tenth of 1% of Minnesota termination procedures.

Abortion in the cases of rape and incest is often a contentious topic and while a legitimate part of the abortion/right-to-life discussion it is often used as red-herring by “pro-choice” activists divert from addressing the 99%+ of abortions that are not due to rape or incest. This new data is useful in combating abortion advocates to who want to talk about the “hard cases” only while avoiding the fact that over 99% of children who are aborted were created by the consent of both their parents.

Rape, like abortion, is an evil and violating attack on human dignity that steals an individual’s right to not have their body harmed by others. It is vital that we as a society treat the lives around us with respect whether they be born or unborn human.
