Actress Carrie-Anne Moss opened up about motherhood in a recent interview, describing how she took time off from her career to care for her children — a decision she called a “no-brainer.”
Known for her hit role as Trinity in “The Matrix” film franchise, Moss shot into the spotlight in the early 2000s. But as the films skyrocketed her to success, Moss pulled back from acting, even turning down big roles in the wake of an even bigger life change: the birth of her children.
Married to actor Steven Roy since 1999, Moss is the mother of two sons and a daughter, born in 2003, 2005, and 2009. In a recent interview with The Independent, she described welcoming her three children after making it big in Hollywood, saying she wanted to put all her focus on raising them.

“After The Matrix was such a big deal, I took a big, big break to have children and be with them,” she said, adding:
I remember being torn, having a little twinge like ‘Gosh, I’m getting offered such great things. That would be such a huge deal.’ And I was holding my baby in my arms, and I remember thinking, ‘At the end of my life, will it matter to me that I have another movie on my résumé? Or will it matter to me that I held my baby?’
And I instantly thought, no. It was just a no-brainer.
And I’m so glad I did that. I’m so glad I don’t have that regret.
This isn’t the first time Moss has spoken of her experience as a mother, having previously told The Los Angeles Times that she “fell in love with mothering” after having her children.
In 2021, Moss appeared on “Red Table Talk” with Jada Pinkett Smith, describing how her life had completely changed after having kids.
“I feel like being a mother has given me everything,” Moss shared. “I love growing, and raising human beings is challenging. And I have loved mothering because I’ve chosen [to] grow. I think about the places in myself that I think I would have just said, ‘That’s just how I am.’ That, my kids, because I love them so much, I’ve had to expand through that.”
She added, “I think I’m a completely different person than I was before I had kids.”
Other actresses have discussed how much having children has changed their lives for the better, including Lindsay Lohan, Blake Lively, Sophie Turner, and Sarah Snook.
