Melinda French Gates knows Big Abortion isn’t ‘underfunded,’ but she’s giving them $1B anyway

Melinda French Gates, ex-wife of billionaire Bill Gates, has long used her wealth and privilege to promote abortion and birth control across the globe. But while she has previously done so under the auspices of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, she recently announced that she was leaving that foundation to focus specifically on causes she supports… like abortion.

Though the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is well-known for promoting “family planning” initiatives in developing nations, it also has other programs, such as fighting polio, agricultural development, water sanitation, and more. But in an op-ed for the New York Times, Melinda Gates said she now intends to focus specifically on programs benefitting women and families, which of course includes “reproductive rights,” a known euphemism for abortion. Gates said she plans to spend $1 billion over the next two years alone.

“In nearly 20 years as an advocate for women and girls, I have learned that there will always be people who say it’s not the right time to talk about gender equality. Not if you want to be relevant. Not if you want to be effective with world leaders (most of them men),” she wrote. “The second the global agenda gets crowded, women and girls fall off. It’s frustrating and shortsighted. Decades of research on economics, well-being and governance make it clear that investing in women and girls benefits everyone.”

While investing in women’s equality is a good thing, this is nothing more than the double-speak so frequently used by abortion advocates. Though Gates speaks about legitimate issues — systemic rape during wartime, maternal mortality — she lets it slip that the main focus of her “invest[ment] in women and girls” is enabling them to kill their preborn children.

“When we allow this cause to go so chronically underfunded, we all pay the cost. As shocking as it is to contemplate, my 1-year-old granddaughter may grow up with fewer rights than I had,” she said (emphasis added).

The organizations she plans to donate to include the Center for Reproductive Rights and the National Women’s Law Center, both pro-abortion groups.

Is the abortion industry underfunded?

One of the most absurd things that Gates claims in her op-ed is that the abortion industry has struggled due to a lack of funding.

“While I have long focused on improving contraceptive access overseas, in the post-Dobbs era, I now feel compelled to support reproductive rights here at home,” she argued. “For too long, a lack of money has forced organizations fighting for women’s rights into a defensive posture while the enemies of progress play offense. I want to help even the match.”

This claim is, quite frankly, ludicrous. In American taxpayer funding alone, abortion groups like Planned Parenthood, International Planned Parenthood Federation, and MSI Reproductive Choices received over $3 billion in just three years.

Far from being underfunded, the abortion industry has, from the very beginning, been backed by the wealthiest people in the country — people like Warren Buffett, George Soros, Bill Gates, and foundations like the Ford Foundation, the Packard Foundation, the Hewlett Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, and more. The video below explains the tremendous depth of involvement of wealthy investors in Big Abortion.

Melinda French Gates cannot possibly be ignorant of these facts.

Planned Parenthood was founded by known eugenicist Margaret Sanger. Originally started as the American Birth Control League, she appointed racists and eugenicist men to the board, including Lothrop Stoddard and Clarence Gamble. Stoddard was an outspoken white supremacist and member of the Ku Klux Klan, but he was also born into a wealthy, aristocratic family.

Gamble, also a eugenicist, was the heir to the Proctor and Gamble fortune. He was also certainly a wealthy man; he was given $1 million for his 21st birthday in 1914, an amount equal to over $31 million today. He frequently used company stock to promote birth control, abortion, and eugenics.

The Rockefeller Family was also influential in the eugenics movement, even creating the Population Council after World War II, and the Rockefeller Foundation still donates to abortion organizations to this day. The Ford Foundation — as in Henry Ford — has likewise spent decades donating to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business.

But modern-day billionaires are still supporting the abortion industry, and even helped to fund the creation of the abortion pill regimen in the U.S.

Gynuity Health Projects has worked to expand access to the abortion pill regimen and overturn safety standards set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It receives funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Population Council, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Society for Family Planning, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Tara Health Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and more. The manufacturer of the abortion pill regimen, Danco Laboratories, likewise receives funding from billionaires, including Bill and Melinda Gates, George Soros, Warren Buffett, the Ford Foundation, William Hewlett and David Packard (the founders of the Hewlett-Packard corporation), and more.

Make no mistake about it: the abortion industry is not, and never has been, short of money donated by wealthy investors.

A long-time abortion agenda

Melinda French Gates didn’t just wake up after the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision in 2022, which led to Roe v. Wade being overturned, and realize she suddenly needed to fight for abortion. She and her ex-husband have spent a long time promoting abortion — both in the United States and overseas.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has paid for journalists to promote abortion, and spent billions to prevent people living in poor or underdeveloped countries from having children. They donated to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), which was known to be behind China’s coercive One Child Policy; this disastrous policy led to countless forced abortions and sterilizations, as well as sex-selective abortions chosen by parents because they were carrying girls. The Gates Foundation has donated millions of dollars to abortion organizations like Planned Parenthood and Marie Stopes International (now MSI Reproductive Choices). They have donated over $82 million to Planned Parenthood alone.

Melinda Gates also boasted of spending nearly $400 million in just over four years to promote birth control and abortion in developing countries. She and Bill Gates have also lied about funding abortion… while still funding abortion.

Gates can try to claim that this new initiative of hers is just that — new — and that she is giving money to chronically underfunded organizations. But if this were true, she wouldn’t still be funding the abortion industry; she’d instead be giving money to causes that actually help women, families, and preborn children.

The DOJ put a pro-life grandmother in jail for protesting the killing of preborn children. Please take 30-seconds to TELL CONGRESS: STOP THE DOJ FROM TARGETING PRO-LIFE AMERICANS.
