(Pregnancy Help News) Sara said she did not know at first that a “reversal” pill for chemical abortion was legitimate.
She was shocked when she left a voicemail with the Abortion Pill Rescue® Network (APRN) and had a call back in less than an hour from a “super confident nurse.”
Sara is one of many moms who have shared their experience with Abortion Pill Reversal for Heartbeat International, which manages the APRN.
Sara begins her story by saying, “I was young, and I wasn’t in the best situation as far as my daughter’s father goes.”
“And there were a lot of concerns and worries for that,” she said. “And that was the main reason why I ultimately went to the [abortion] clinic that day.”
Sara then said she immediately felt regret after taking the pill, also known as mifepristone. This regret over having started a chemical abortion also makes her like many other moms. Many women undergo chemical abortion because they feel they have no other options. About 150 women call the APRN each month and start Abortion Pill Reversal.
The chemical abortion pill causes the pregnancy to lose progesterone; its source of keeping the baby secured in the womb. If progesterone is administered after the chemical abortion process is begun, the baby may survive.
Abortion Pill Reversal is an updated application of the decades-old treatment using progesterone to prevent miscarriage. Chemical abortion consists of mifepristone, which starves the unborn child of progesterone, and misoprostol, taken a day or so after the first pill, to cause the mom to go into labor and deliver her deceased child.
If a mom acts soon enough after taking the first chemical abortion drug it may be possible to save her unborn child through Abortion Pill Reversal. To date, more than 4,500 lives, and counting, have been saved thanks to the APRN.
Sara’s boyfriend’s mom helped her find the APRN website. She could hardly believe such an option was available.
The APRN includes more than 1,400 Rescue providers, pregnancy centers and hospitals.
The nurse on the line found a doctor within 10 minutes of her location to administer the progesterone that would save her baby’s life.
Even after seeing her baby on an ultrasound, two years later she kept wondering if there was damage caused by the abortion pill. She wondered if there would be defects or if the baby would even make it to term.
Her daughter Emilia was born in June 2015, and according to Sara, “she is a straight-A student, good at every sport. Beautiful, funny. I couldn’t imagine life without her. She was just meant to be here.”
Sara spoke about the helpful services of pregnancy centers, which offer ultrasounds, diapers, support, and other items.
She said she is hopeful her story will impact other women.
“They’ll Google and see, ‘Oh, this is legitimate. This is a safe, trusted process,’” Sara said.
If not for Sara finding the APRN after she took the first abortion pill, Sara said Emelia would not be here today.
