MSNBC: Passing laws to equally protect humans in the womb is ‘rotten’ and not ‘normal’

MSNBC’s host Nicolle Wallace and former Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill bemoaned pro-life laws on Deadline White House last week, claiming all pro-life legislation is the result of extremists “skulking around” the Republican party.

Wallace begins the brief discussion by stating that pro-life legislation “pulls the curtain back on this really rotten core on the right, that the kinds of people who wrote the vigilante law in Texas, they were skulking around Republican politics for decades, and then they have their moment,” because, she claims, “the party has pushed out anyone normal….” She also claimed the party is “totally beholden to the far right extremists,” claiming that Governor Abbott and the “legislature there let these people in.”

She then misrepresented the idea that pro-life laws don’t carry exceptions for instances in which a mother’s life is on the line. In many such cases, the child only has to be delivered alive — not deliberately killed — to save the mother’s life. “The folks writing the laws without exceptions for rape and life of mother, same thing, they’ve skulked about in the shadows..,” she said before mentioning the concern of IVF and surrogacy access being denied as collateral damage of the fall of Roe.

For her part, McCaskill claimed “extremism is a thread running through the Republican Party right now. Extreme stuff, breaking of norms, a lack of civility” for not allowing abortion in cases of rape while its supporters are holding up “Let’s Go Brandon” signs.

McCaskill seems to act as if killing children is on par with the use of vulgar words, and fails to mention how pro-abortion politicians turned a blind eye to their supporters’ attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers with vulgar graffiti and firebombs over the last few months.

Regarding IVF and surrogacy, which treats children as commodities — they are deeply intertwined with abortion (or “selective reduction“), and any pro-life laws protecting preborn life should also be used to regulate the fertility industry.

It is completely normal — not ‘extreme’ or ‘rotten’ — to want to protect innocent preborn human beings from violent, premeditated deaths by abortion, and it isn’t just members of any one political party who are trying to enact pro-life laws. Democrats for Life and Secular Pro-Life are just two non-Republican groups that are standing up for the right to life for all human beings.

It is clear that many in the media are attempting to sway voters to support pro-abortion propositions and legislators by using misinformation and guilt tactics. By attempting to paint killing via abortion as the only reasonable or compassionate position, they are promoting the greatest human rights violation of our day — which unjustly ends thousands of lives daily in the U.S. alone.
