New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has signed into law a bill that will give Planned Parenthood, and other abortion organizations, $9.5 million in taxpayer dollars. This is on top of the $10.5 million in state funding the corporation already receives from the state. The bill was passed in direct response to the Trump administration’s revised Title X rules, which caused Planned Parenthood to reject approximately $60 million in taxpayer funding. NJ’s funding was meant to make up for the funding Planned Parenthood refused from the federal Title X program.
According to NJ.com, Title X provided $8.8 million in taxpayer funding to women’s health and family planning clinics in New Jersey. Many Planned Parenthood affiliates chose to opt out of funding, including those in New Jersey, deciding to give up the taxpayer dollars rather than separate their abortion business from their Title X family planning services.
Murphy specifically spoke about Planned Parenthood as part of his reason for signing the law. “Planned Parenthood made a conscious decision to continuing providing vital information to their patients, knowing it would cost them much-needed federal funds,” Murphy said before he signed the law. “And today, we’re making a conscious decision to stand with Planned Parenthood and with all who stand for reproductive rights, and to stop President Trump from harming our fellow New Jerseyans.”

In the press release announcing the signing, the abortion giant was likewise included. “On behalf of Planned Parenthood’s patients across the state, we thank Governor Murphy and the state legislature for protecting access to care,” Kaitlyn Wojtowicz, Vice President of Public Affairs for Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey, said. “With this bill signing, our providers will continue to provide the lifesaving reproductive health care services that patients need and deserve.”
Yet while Planned Parenthood masquerades itself as a legitimate health care provider women desperately rely on for care, this is not the truth. As Live Action News previously reported, 87 percent of Title X facilities nationwide are not Planned Parenthood affiliates. The Trump administration’s revised Title X rules also made another requirement that impacts PP, though it’s one that Murphy and PP’s other defenders do not often bring up. The new rules mean recipients are forced to report all instances of sexual abuse of minors to police, which is something Planned Parenthood has neglected to do many times. And according to multiple polls, most Americans do not want their taxpayer dollars funding abortion.
