The Obama Administration is giving more than $5 million to Planned Parenthood affiliates under the auspices of teen pregnancy prevention, Life Dynamics reports.
The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Adolescent Health administers the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, which purports to “focus on providing evidence of what works, investing in new and innovative approaches, and fostering a culture of learning.”
In all, the grants divide $5,679,657 among five Planned Parenthood affiliates in Washington and Iowa, to fund “evidence-based TPP programs.”
Planned Parenthood received over $528 million from taxpayers last year. Life Dynamics also questions the appropriateness of turning to the abortion giant for child welfare, noting that since 2002, the group “has been documenting the way that Planned Parenthood has covered for child sexual predators by not reporting pedophiles who take young victims to their facilities to cover up their crimes.”
As Live Action News has previously covered, despite receiving the money for the ostensible purpose of preventing teen pregnancy, Planned Parenthood believes abstinence education does not work and actively promotes underage sexual experimentation. Several studies have found abstinence programs to be effective. The Obama Administration’s budget proposal for the 2015 fiscal year proposed eliminating federal funds for abstinence.
