What would the world be like if you were not here? Please don’t try to tell me there would be no difference. In everything you do and say, you make a difference in the lives of others. Even the smallest moments of encouragement will change lives (even though you may not see the effects).
This important message is central to a new movie that recently won an award at the Life Fest Awards. Doonby received the Frank Capra Award for “inspirational and uplifting themes that underscore the intrinsic value of life.”
Sam Doonby is a “drifter who takes up residence in a small Texas town but seems suspiciously immune to the misfortunes that beset the other townsfolk.” This strange man quickly inspires envy in his neighbors, because he always seems to be in the right place at the right time.
John Schneider, who plays the main character, is joined by Ernie Hudson, Jenn Gotson, Robert Davi, in a film that reaches across religious lines to spread the message that one life does matter.
Davi describes his struggles with being a Christian in the movie industry as follows: “In spite of temptations in life, you have a moral compass that gives you that center. I am as prone to the temptations of the flesh as any guy or woman. You battle that. Hollywood is a place where you can absolutely run wild.” Davi knew that Doonby‘s message was important enough that he needed to play an integral part in the film’s wonderfully inspiring message.
Dr. Alveda King, Abby Johnson, and Lila Rose are just a few of those who support this movie and the message it gives us about the importance of every life.
The Vatican newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, has written that Doonby “brilliantly weaves an intriguing tapestry of complex moral choices and their consequences.” It has “a haunting finale that will linger in your mind and obsess your consciousness as you tackle a puzzle that will challenge each and every perception or conviction while you experience forlorn feelings of speechlessness and shock but ultimately of liberation!”
There are even prizes available for those who wish to take part in The Doonby Project, including an early copy of the DVD, limited-edition t-shirts, the chance to walk down the red carpet at one of the premiers, and more! Check out www.bit.ly/doonbyproject for more information on this.

“In this day of worthless and violent garbage inundating movie audiences there comes a shining ray of light & hope & conviction, Doonby, that is also professionally entertaining.” – Pat Boone, Singer and Evangelist
