Years ago, Online for Life — now known as Human Coalition — forged a new approach to pro-life activism when the organization’s founders left high-powered jobs to apply their corporate expertise to a groundbreaking pro-life ministry.
Their vision was to reach women who were considering abortion as early in their options research as possible. To this end, they applied their resources to search engine optimization (SEO), which allowed them to reach women surfing the internet for abortion information with a message of life and hope.
The SEO work bore substantial fruit — lives were being saved. On June 22, 2010, the first Online for Life baby was rescued from abortion in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A mother seeking an abortion appointment was reached by Online for Life, found abortion alternatives, and chose life for her child.
Then, in 2012, Online for Life started a call center in Plano, Texas. The call center helped to connect desperate women with pregnancy resources. In 2014, Online for Life invited pregnancy centers to become a part of the organization. Now, the organization itself owns and operates five women’s care centers across the country, and assists dozens more. In 2014, Online for Life began a church team, and brought pastors and church organizers on staff to help different denominations link arms with the singular focus of saving lives and helping women. A marketing team was also added.
So Online for Life realized that “Online for Life” was a name they had outgrown. Today, about 20% of what the organization does is online, and the rest is these various other ministries. The organization wants to make abortion unthinkable and unavailable worldwide by reaching hurting families with compassionate care, so they introduced a new name on April 11: Human Coalition.
We spoke with Brian Fisher, the co-founder and president of Human Coalition, who told us, “Online for Life was a wonderful name when we started our work on the Internet. God had plans much bigger than ours, however, and as the work expanded to our call center, our network of pro-life women’s care clinics, our services to pregnancy centers, and our outreach to churches, we realized that Online for Life was just not a big enough name! Human Coalition embodies our desire to rescue pre-born humans from abortion, serve their families, and do this work in cooperation with like-minded people, churches, and organizations all over the country.”
As of today, Human Coalition has rescued 4,166 from abortion and grown a staff of over one hundred members. With their new name and renewed identity, the organization presses on in exploring the most effective ways to celebrate humanity and save lives. To learn more, visit HumanCoalition.org.
