At a campaign stop in Iowa, presidential candidate Carly Fiorina was met by a rowdy group of Planned Parenthood supporters. Fiorina’s campaign was hosting a tailgate event outside a University of Iowa football game.
The pink-clad group of about 30 protesters chanted slogans at Fiorina and her supporters. “I-O-W-A, women’s rights are here to stay!” “Carly Fiorina: Offsides for telling lies!” “Women are watching, and we vote!”
At one point during the confrontation, several condoms were hurled toward Fiorina and her supporters from the direction of the protesters. While it is unclear who threw the condoms, the Planned Parenthood group reportedly was passing out condoms outside the football stadium.
The reaction against Fiorina comes as the pro-life presidential candidate continues to push for defunding of Planned Parenthood. In recent debates and campaign events, Fiorina has made a point to expose the illegal actions of Planned Parenthood and call for justice.
As she explained to one protester, she is pro-women’s health, but against “butchering babies”.
“I think we’re making a difference, that’s my reaction,” Fiorina said to reporters, as pro-abortion chants could be heard from protesters in the background. “I think they’re scared that the people of America are starting to look at what’s really going on in a Planned Parenthood clinic. They can’t deny what’s going on, so they shout slogans instead.”
