Planned Parenthood and America’s war on babies

Planned Parenthood and America’s war on babies

On the O’Reilly Factor last night, Bill O’Reilly, along with Kirsten Powers and Kate Obenshain, discussed Planned Parenthood, and whether or not there is a war on babies in America today.

There was a lot of talk about whether Planned Parenthood is truly a non-profit organization, whether or not they perform abortions for profit, and so on. Planned Parenthood likes to say that the half a billion dollars they receive from taxpayers don’t go towards abortion, but how is anyone supposed to know that for sure? And when Planned Parenthood’s main source of revenue is abortion, then there really isn’t any difference between funding Planned Parenthood and funding abortion.

Perhaps most inexplicable was Kirsten Powers’ statement that while she is pro-life and opposes Planned Parenthood’s abortion services, she still supports them for the other “services” they provide. This is a typical claim from supporters of Planned Parenthood, but as their own annual report has shown, it’s a false claim. Planned Parenthood is in the business of abortion — period. Publicly, Planned Parenthood likes to claim that they provide vital health care services for women, even though it’s either a lie, like their oft-repeated claim that they provide mammograms, or a small portion of their business. Prenatal services, for example, have been declining, and only make up a little over 5% of their pregnancy care. Adoption is less than 1%. Cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood have been declining as well. All of this comes straight from their own annual report.

Dear Reader,

Every day in America, more than 2,800 preborn babies lose their lives to abortion.

That number should break our hearts and move us to action.

Ending this tragedy requires daily commitment from people like you who refuse to stay silent.

Together, we can end abortion and create a future where every child is cherished and every mother is supported.

It’s odd that there seems to be this need, even from self-proclaimed pro-lifers, to portray Planned Parenthood as a good organization, aside from the abortions. Live Action’s investigations have shown otherwise time and time again, as Planned Parenthood has been caught giving inaccurate medical information, using manipulative counseling to coerce women into getting abortions, covering up sexual trafficking and statutory rape, and even willingly carrying out race-and-sex-based abortions. Meanwhile, 94% of babies whose mothers take them into Planned Parenthood won’t end up coming out alive. Planned Parenthood is waging a war on babies for sure, but they aren’t doing so alone. Remember, they’re receiving half a billion dollars in taxpayer funding, so we can’t really call this Planned Parenthood’s war on babies. No, it’s much worse than that. With our money and complicity, this isn’t just their war. It’s America’s war on babies, too.

Editor’s Note, 3/24/21: A statistic from a third party stating that 94% of Planned Parenthood’s services to pregnant women is abortion has been removed due to possible statistical inaccuracies.
