Earlier this week at a tele-townhall event, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards indicated intent to control the media.
During the event, which Breitbart’s Dr. Susan Berry described as a “last-ditch effort to get out the vote for Clinton,” Richards was asked what Planned Parenthood supporters can do to “take the microphone away from Trump.”
In a revealing choice of words, Richards responded, “The media is difficult for us to control right now.”
While Richards’ disturbing admission may represent an unusually candid moment, the abortion industry’s intent to control the media narrative is nothing new. What is surprising is that, despite obvious media bias in favor of abortion, the pro-abortion camp still feels the need to control it to an even greater degree.
Last year, major news outlets chose to largely ignore evidence of possible corruption and unethical behavior by Planned Parenthood officials revealed in a series of videos released by the Center for Medical Progress. As of September, 2015, as the videos were being widely circulated and analyzed, “ABC, NBC, and CBS ha[d] aired only one minute and 13 seconds of these videos (with audio) during their news programs. In other words, the broadcast networks ha[d] played 0.125 percent of the total footage released by CMP.”
Far from being a rare exception, the media’s handling of the CMP videos sadly represents the media’s typical bias. As Live Action News’ Cassy Fiano reported:
The media is all too happy to help Richards disseminate her propaganda, like the false claim that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms, like spreading debunked Planned Parenthood studies, or like minimizing the pro-life movement; they’re always there to do Planned Parenthood’s dirty work. They don’t even report on the dangers of abortion to women. No, they get their marching orders straight from Planned Parenthood and merrily do as they’re told.
In addition to Richards, the townhall event featured pro-abortion politicians Elizabeth Warren and Wendy Davis, who has claimed she aborted her daughter “out of love.”
Breitbart reports that during the event, Planned Parenthood was promoted as a “trusted name in all circles.” Maybe with a little more control over the media, people will actually start believing that. Richards can only hope, especially as the truth about Planned Parenthood’s devastating abortion focus gets out.
