Planned Parenthood abortionist from famous undercover video commits unlicensed surgical abortions in Indiana

According to a news release from Tippecanoe County Right to Life, Lafayette Planned Parenthood in Lafayette, Indiana, is reportedly committing surgical abortions despite the fact that it is not licensed to do so.

Termination of pregnancy reports (TPRs) reviewed by Tippecanoe County Right to Life show that this Planned Parenthood location is licensed to commit chemical abortions (abortion pill) only, but on March 5, 2020, it reported committing two “Medical (Surgical) Suction Curettage” – or D&C – abortions. The abortionist who signed the paperwork is Dr. Deborah Nucatola, the former Senior Director of Medical Services for Planned Parenthood Federation of America who was seen in the first Center for Medical Progress video detailing how she alters abortion procedures to harvest intact fetal organs.

Complaints were filed with the Indiana Attorney General’s Office and the Indiana State Department of Health regarding the unlicensed abortions at Lafayette Planned Parenthood with concern for the safety of women undergoing such abortions.

“If Planned Parenthood brought in a prominent abortion doctor to begin surgical abortion procedures in Lafayette, women’s health and safety is at serious risk,” said Kevin Niebrugge, who filed the complaints and serves on the Board of Tippecanoe County Right to Life. “The Lafayette Planned Parenthood facility is not licensed to do surgical abortions, because their facility is not set up to meet the physical building and safety standards required for surgical abortions.”

According to AbortionProcedures.com, a first-trimester suction aspiration D&C abortion “is a procedure in which a suction catheter is inserted into the mother’s uterus to extract the preborn baby. Tools are then used to scrape the lining of the uterus to remove any remaining parts.” The risks to women for such an abortion include damage to the uterus or cervix, damage to organs including intestines and bladder, hemorrhage, infection, and death. D&C abortions are also associated with complications in future pregnancies. Carrying out this procedure in a facility that is not equipped for it will leave women even more vulnerable to these risks.

Nucatola’s past behavior is evidence that she is not concerned about the health of her patients. In the Center for Medical Progress video, Nucatola can be seen casually eating salad and drinking wine while describing the way she illegally alters abortion procedures, not with the woman’s health in mind, but with the financial benefits to Planned Parenthood in mind. She stated:

I’d say a lot of people want liver… And for that reason, most providers will do this case under ultrasound evidence so they’ll know where they’re putting their forceps. We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not going to crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.

“We urge the Attorney General and ISDH to swiftly look into the reports of unlicensed, surgical abortions at the Lafayette Planned Parenthood,” said Niebrugge. “Until there is a thorough investigation, women’s health is at risk.”
