Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, Planned Parenthood is giving their supporters advice on how to deal with those pesky pro-life relatives they may have (however, judging from the commentary from their fans on Facebooks, even they weren’t too comfortable with the idea of discussing Planned Parenthood at the dinner table):
“If your family members are the type who regularly protest outside the local Planned Parenthood, you know that this holiday is going to be a doozy. Luckily, we have some tips for surviving those awkward conversations.”
I agree that we should “remember the big picture,” know the facts, and know where we stand when it comes to the issue of abortion and Planned Parenthood’s role in promoting it. Planned Parenthood takes a different and pretty ridiculous approach to these tips, though…
“Remember the big picture. Debating when life begins or whether or not abortion is federally funded may get you nowhere.”
It’s funny how Planned Parenthood dissuades their supporters from discussing fetal development or the funding of abortion procedures with pro-lifers. Of course, it is pretty difficult to refute scientific and biological facts and reasoning when there is solid proof that a human being comes into existence at the moment of conception. The fact that an unborn child’s heart begins to beat just three weeks after conception, before most women realize they’re pregnant, is often enough to surprise an abortion-rights supporter, especially when they’ve succumbed to trusting Planned Parenthood’s fetal development information.
“Know your facts, but keep the conversation more global. It’s good to clarify misinformation—for example, the misconception that emergency contraception ends a pregnancy—but staying there can cause a fight. Instead, try to clarify, and then transition back to the underlying value of why you believe what you do.”
Is it any surprise that Planned Parenthood’s advice to those debating with pro-lifers is to flat-out lie to them? It is a known fact that hormonal birth control methods, including “emergency contraception,” can act as abortifacients and prevent a newly conceived human being from implanting in his or her mother’s womb, thus killing them in her next menstrual cycle. What is it exactly that you’re trying to “clarify,” Planned Parenthood?
“Reproductive health is not a black and white issue…focus on the distinction between your personal beliefs, and what should or shouldn’t be imposed on others. For example, “I might not personally choose to get an abortion, but I could never decide for another woman whether or not she was ready to become a parent.””
If by “reproductive health” Planned Parenthood is referring to abortion, this issue is actually black and white: abortion ends the life of a human being. Under any circumstances, under any situations, for whatever reason it is performed, abortion kills a human being. The only debate is whether it is ever acceptable to intentionally end the life of a defenseless human being.
Of course, claiming one is “personally” against abortion but wouldn’t “decide for” another whether it is an acceptable choice holds as much ground as “I’m personally against rape, and I’d never rape anyone, but I can’t decide for someone else if it’s right for them.” Who are you kidding, Planned Parenthood?
“Question: “I don’t want my tax dollars going toward abortions.”
Response: “…because of the Hyde Amendment, tax dollars can’t go toward supporting abortion. But I do believe that everyone deserves access to basic, preventive reproductive care, and that it’s important we support those services…””
Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider and performs over 332,000 of the 1.2 million abortions in America each and every year while receiving over $300,000,000 taxpayer dollars annually. Every cent funneled into this organization goes towards promoting abortion and persuading women to choose it. It goes towards keeping the lights on and water running in facilities that profit off the mass slaughter of unborn children. It goes towards deceiving women and covering up statutory rape with secret abortions. This is unjustifiable.
“A woman may have an abortion for any number of reasons. Some of these reasons may not seem right to us, but even if we disagree, it is better that each person be able to make her own decision.”
An equally justifiable opinion: “a woman may kill her newborn for any number of reasons. Some of these reasons may not seem right to us, but even if we disagree, it is better that each person be able to make her own decision.” No, this blasé approach to the “choice” to kill another human being doens’t fly.
“We can try to imagine the heartbreak of a family when they get the news that a test has shown there is something wrong with their baby.”
Considering this is under Planned Parenthood’s how-to-justify-your-pro-choice-belief pointers, they epitomize their pro-abortion stance in this very statement. The Guttmacher Institute reports that 6% of abortions are performed for fetal abnormalities- this encompasses the 92% of children with Down Syndrome who are aborted. What a sad society we live in when it is so acceptable to kill off human beings in their most vulnerable state because they have a disability.
Q) Isn’t emergency contraception just another form of abortion?
R) …a lot of people have that misconception. Emergency contraception pills actually prevent pregnancy before it begins…it gives people a second chance to prevent pregnancy—and I think everyone should be ready before they become a parent.
Again, Planned Parenthood reiterates their lie about hormonal birth control and “emergency contraception.” Of course, they put it in there twice. Shocking.
Q) I don’t want my tax dollars to be spent paying for abortions.
R) “…I think we can all agree that our tax dollars should be spent making sure that
everyone has medical care. In my ideal world, no one would have to put off
going to the doctor because they can’t afford it, and every child would have
access to a pediatrician. I also believe that our medical care shouldn’t be
based on how much money we make. Women who are poor should have the same
ability to decide whether and when to become parents as women who have more
money.”
Once more, this has been addressed above. However, it’s interesting that this time around, Planned Parenthood doesn’t deny that taxpayer dollars go towards funding abortions. (But again, considering millions upon millions of dollars are granted to an organization that performs hundreds of thousands of abortions each year ought to be a red flag, shouldn’t it?)
“Q) I think sex ed should be left to the parents.
R) I totally agree that parents should be the main educators of their children when it comes to sex. Kids need to hear our values and our sense of what is appropriate for kids their age. But I also know that those conversations are hard to have—I remember my father stumbling over some of the very same questions my kids ask me now. And I think lots of parents put off the conversation or avoid it entirely. Honestly, all kids need information about protecting themselves from disease and unintended pregnancy—probably not for now, but for the future—and we need to make sure all kids get this information that could save their lives.”
Planned Parenthood has already made it abundantly clear how they feel about children involving parents in their sex lives and decisions they make regarding abortion. When you come across the section of Planned Parenthood’s website regarding parental consent laws, the first thing a minor will encounter is how to skirt the laws with a judicial bypass to obtain secret abortions.
Of course, Live Action has already documented time and time again over the years Planned Parenthood’s willingness to assist minors as young as 13 in obtaining secret abortions, even if they’re in cases of statutory rape.
