Police ‘upset’ after learning mother ‘tossed’ preterm baby on Michigan sidewalk like ‘trash’

murder, abortion

In April, a couple made a horrific discovery in Flint, Michigan, that they say has left them traumatized. While out for a walk, they found a deceased baby boy, estimated to be about 20 to 23 weeks gestation, lying on the sidewalk.

On April 18, Daniel Foster and his wife were walking at about 11 p.m., as they often did, when they came across the lifeless baby on the sidewalk near a McDonald’s and a child care center.

“Me and my wife were walking back from up here and she started freaking out,” Foster said. “And I asked her, what are you freaking out for? And then that’s when she showed me the baby. And then I said it’s just a bird and she said no it’s a human baby.”

Here is a photo of a preborn human being at approximately 20 weeks gestation:

He added, “There’s no words or expression to explain that other than being traumatized from it.”

The couple called 911, according to ABC 12 News, and the Flint Police Department began an investigation. The next day, they located the baby’s mother, a 26-year-old, whom they questioned after she underwent medical treatment. Her reaction is haunting, heartbreaking, and indicative of the culture that a pro-abortion society has created.

“She was walking down the sidewalk, she was in pain and thought she was having a miscarriage,” Flint Police Chief Terence Green said. “And while she was walking down the sidewalk, that’s when she gave birth to the fetus, removed it from her pants and tossed it aside. That’s her statement.”

He added, “The grandmother made the statement that, and I quote, ‘She didn’t understand what the big deal was. People throw trash and needles on the sidewalk all the time.'”

After 31 years in law enforcement, Green said he has never seen anything like it and that his officers became emotional over the child and the situation.

“I would describe it as shocking, horrifying — and it upset and angered me,” he said.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said the mother was using crack and heroin during her pregnancy. The woman was arrested, and charges were said to be “pending review by the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office.” But it appears their hands may be tied.

Michigan voters passed Proposal 3 in November, which says, “The state shall not penalize, prosecute, or otherwise take adverse action against an individual based on their actual, potential, perceived, or alleged pregnancy outcomes, including but not limited to miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion.”

And based on Facebook comments and Reddit comments, it appears many individuals don’t think there was anything wrong with this woman’s actions.

Prop 3, the Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative, was largely an effort of pro-abortion groups including the ACLU and Planned Parenthood. Similar verbiage has been seen recently in legislation in other states, including Colorado and California. Citizens to Support Michigan Women and Children believes that such language might prevent law enforcement from investigating infanticides. “For example,” the group’s website states, “if someone gives birth and then abandons the baby in the trash, the state can’t even investigate the situation because investigation is an ‘adverse action’ against a ‘perceived pregnancy outcome.’”

It appears Prop 3 is doing what it was designed to do.

A similar situation occurred in Chicago’s Galewood neighborhood in September when a baby was found on a sidewalk there in the early afternoon. Cases of newborn children being thrown in the trash seem to be on the rise as well in New Mexico, where two teen girls each tossed their baby. Both were arrested. In Ohio, a teen girl was arrested when her newborn twins were found in the garbage behind her home, and another set of twins was recently discovered in a garbage bag hidden in a cabinet at a Chicago hospital.

The erroneous and discriminatory belief that preborn babies aren’t human beings could be a driving force behind these tragedies —and the introduction of mail-order abortion drugs could help to further increase such instances, as women are told that taking the abortion pill is like a heavy period and are shocked to give birth to their dead babies.

After decades of being told preborn babies are nothing more than ‘clumps of cells,’ it is any wonder that mothers should begin to treat them as exactly that?

“We are told it’s just tissue, with no human value. After all, in Michigan, it’s now legal to take the life of a child after viability for absolutely any reason. Thanks to Proposal 3, Governor Whitmer, and the Michigan Legislature repealing prolife laws, they don’t even need to pretend it’s for a ‘health’ reason anymore,” wrote Chris Gast, Right to Life of Michigan Education Coordinator.

He said of the abandoned baby boy, “He wasn’t a blob of tissue. He wasn’t a tumor. He wasn’t any of the dozen other epithets abortion supporters have come up with to demean the value of human life before birth; no, he was a human baby.”
