Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton broke her silence about a week ago regarding the then two videos from the Center for Medical Progress showing top Planned Parenthood executives discussing their fetal parts business.
Clinton used the word “unfortunate,” but it was with regards to how “… Planned Parenthood had been the object of such a concerted attacks for so many years…” Clinton also “hop[es] that this situation will not further undermine the very important services that Planned Parenthood provides.”
In a recent interview with Dan Tuohy of New Hampshire Union Leader, Clinton echoed such remarks about Planned Parenthood:
“Planned Parenthood is answering questions and will continue to answer questions. I think there are two points to make,” Clinton said. “One, Planned Parenthood for more than a century has done a lot of really good work for women: cancer screenings, family planning, all kinds of health services.
And this raises not questions about Planned Parenthood so much as it raises questions about the whole process, that is, not just involving Planned Parenthood, but many institutions in our country.”
Such remarks are typical and tiring coming from a pro-abortion politician who also touts such a record “for more than 22 years.” It is interesting though how she does not rule out the idea of investigating Planned Parenthood. She even seems to suggest being open to an investigation of the abortion industry and abortion businesses. Planned Parenthood is certainly a big part, but it is only one part of the abortion industry. “And if there’s going to be any kind of congressional inquiry, it should look at everything and not just one part of it,” she said.
Clinton also seems unconcerned about Planned Parenthood’s funding:
Clinton, long a supporter of abortion rights, was asked whether she is concerned the videos will jeopardize funding for abortion services and women’s health care. Funding today is no more at risk than it has been for years, she said.
In fact, not only are there Congressional committee investigations into Planned Parenthood’s practices, but letters from both houses of Congress have been addressed to the Department of Justice and the Department of Health & Human Services. A bill before the Senate has been introduced and will be voted on to defund the abortion giant before the August recess.
Clinton’s words may very well come back to haunt her.
