Pro-life group flies banner over Jackson, Mississippi, as SCOTUS prepares to hear abortion case

jackson, mississippi

The pro-life organization Created Equal flew an airplane banner over Jackson, Mississippi, on Monday ahead of the Supreme Court’s scheduled hearing of a case regarding the state’s 15-week abortion restriction.

“We need to overturn abortion, not just overturn Roe v. Wade,” said Mark Harrington, President of Created Equal. “That process begins by educating Americans on what abortion does to a baby. Visual depictions are indispensable to making the injustice of abortion real to citizens.”

According to WLBT, the banner featured the image of a baby aborted at 15 weeks with the words “OVERTURN ABORTION.” However, WAPT reported that the banner featured an image of a preborn child. The plan is to share billboards like this across multiple states, ending in Washington D.C. on December 1, 2021 — the day the Supreme Court will begin hearing oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. In this case, the Supreme Court will review Mississippi’s 2018 law restricting abortion to the first 15 weeks of pregnancy. The case poses a threat to the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion in every state.

About 21 days after fertilization, a preborn child’s heart is beating and pumping blood. By week 15 (13 weeks post-fertilization), this tiny human’s nose and lips are completely formed. She can make complex facial expressions, kick her legs, and wave her arms. She can experience hiccups, feel pain, suck her thumb, sigh, and stretch. She is and always has been, as much a human being as any born person is. But it is completely legal in the United States to kill her for any reason, and her death is a violent one.

In the second trimester, the most common method of abortion is Dilation and Evacuation, also known as D&E or dismemberment abortion. To kill this fragile baby, an abortionist uses a Sopher clamp to tear off her arms and legs. Then he removes her body piece by piece, and crushes her skull. The images used by Created Equal to educate Americans on abortion, like the ones below, show just how horrible and inhumane the procedure is.

Warning: Graphic images

It is wrong to kill innocent human beings no matter their age, size, or location. Many Americans falsely believe that abortion is a neat and clean procedure that simply “removes a pregnancy” like the abortion industry claims. The truth is that abortion is violent and a human being’s life is destroyed every time an abortion is carried out. By showing these graphic images, Created Equal is exposing this truth.
