Before being elected to Congress, I was an OB/GYN for over 25 years in Great Bend, Kansas, dedicating my professional career to delivering over 5,000 babies. Every birth was special, as I’d soon hand that newborn girl or boy to their adoring mother, and many times go on to watch those same kids grow up in the community with my own children.

Tragically, as readers of Live Action News know full well, many in our country are not dedicated to bringing life into the world but instead ending it. On numerous occasions, I personally cared for women in emergency situations after they were driving home from a botched abortion committed by the infamous late-term abortionist George Tiller in Wichita, Kansas.

Never did I think that when I came to Congress nearly four years ago, I’d be fighting harder to save lives in the halls of Congress than in the delivery room.

Rep. Marshall

READ: Confirmed: 43 Planned Parenthood affiliates received COVID-19 relief funding

Like most pro-life Americans, I was outraged to recently learn Planned Parenthood illegally obtained tens of millions of dollars through the Paycheck Protection Program, which was established to help small businesses get through the coronavirus pandemic and keep American workers off unemployment.

Federal funds should never go to those who commit abortion, especially during a pandemic. To address this, I was proud to stand alongside the pro-life community in recently introducing H.R. 7792, The Abortion Provider Loan Elimination Act, which would prohibit abortion providers from receiving funds through the Paycheck Protection Program and initiate an investigation into how Planned Parenthood illegally received $80 million through the program during the height of the coronavirus crisis. This bill would ensure those who commit abortion cannot take advantage of our hard-earned tax dollars during a pandemic.

This legislation would be just one small step toward ending the tragedy of abortion in America, but that is the path we pro-life Americans face.

Editor’s Note: Media has misleadingly labeled Rep. Marshall’s bill as an “abortion restriction” bill, when in fact, the bill places no restrictions on abortion. Rep. Marshall represents Kansas’ 1st District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
