Abortion Pill

EXCLUSIVE: Brandi Swindell on being pro-life in post-Roe America

In an exclusive interview, Live Action founder and president Lila Rose and Stanton Healthcare president Brandi Swindell discussed the importance of pregnancy resource centers (PRCs), the abortion pill, and the continuing need to serve women and their children, especially in a post-Roe America.

Swindell founded Stanton Healthcare in 2006 because she saw the need for a life-affirming medical clinic that offers ultrasounds. Stanton facilities employ nurse practitioners, physician assistants, sonographers, and more, all to offer a variety of services, including pregnancy testing, limited ultrasound exams, prenatal vitamins, baby supplies, maternity clothes, parenting classes, mommy and me classes, individualized wellness care, STD testing and treatment, and much more.

“The product is hope, compassionate services, and quality healthcare,” Swindell explained, saying that when a woman has those, she is empowered to choose life. “What we provide at the centers is a catalyst for change in a woman’s life.”

Rose and Swindell also discussed the dangers of the abortion pill and the trauma it inflicts on women. Swindell shared the story of a woman who drove across state lines to pick up the pills, then sat in a McDonald’s parking lot to take the first one. “Imagine this. A women’s alone, typically by herself, turning homes, cars, whatever it might be, into abortion clinics, by herself taking this pill. It’s a really traumatic experience on women,” Swindell explained.

However, despite the danger, there is also hope, as women have a chance to reverse the abortion pill procedure with a high dose of progesterone through abortion pill reversal, which is offered at Stanton facilities. The woman who sat in the McDonald’s parking lot is one such success story, and her baby was recently born after she went through the abortion pill reversal process.

Swindell explained how the abortion pill works, in order to illustrate that abortion pill reversal is possible.

“There’s a series of pills that you have to take on two different days. If you catch it in between that time period, there’s a small window where a woman can actually reverse the process if she goes to a medical professional who’s trained in abortion pill reversal,” she said.

“At Stanton Healthcare, we have five babies that exist because of abortion pill reversal,” she said.

Swindell also noted that in her experience, the majority of women who choose abortion do so because they are coerced and truly feel they have no other option. When they realize there are people out there willing to help them, they feel empowered to choose life for their babies. She believes this is one of the reasons that abortion advocates are so opposed to pregnancy resource centers — which continue to provide vital services in a post-Roe America.

In contrast, the abortion industry offers women nothing but abortion. When abortion is restricted, these facilities begin closing. She shared that shortly following the overturn of Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood in Boise shut its doors, as Idaho had a trigger law that went into effect — even though the abortion facility claims that abortion is only 3% of its services.

“Shouldn’t they be busier than ever, trying to help women in a post-Roe America?… It was so obvious that it revealed their lie, that is abortion is only 3% of what they do,” she pointed out.

In closing, Rose and Swindell discussed what’s next for the pro-life movement in a post-Roe world.

“You know what, I say it’s [the pro-life community’s] moment to shine. We need to work harder than ever…Roe was overturned by the Supreme Court, but abortion hasn’t been overturned in our American institutions, it hasn’t been overturned in the heart of every American person, so we need to continue to work to overturn Roe in society,” Swindell said. “Specifically, our goal now is to make abortion unthinkable.”
