When discussing children in the womb, abortion advocates have a simple goal: dehumanize them.
But it gets tougher to do as time goes on. After all, a child’s sex is often visible on ultrasound by 14 weeks, and there’s evidence she can feel pain 6 weeks after that. Calling her a “clump of cells” or a “blob of tissue” just isn’t as effective at this point; most people know they’re looking at a baby.
Dr. Anthony Levatino knows it. Dr. Levatino is an obstetrician-gynecologist who’s done over 1,200 abortions, and in the video below, he describes a second trimester abortion technique known as dilation and evacuation (D&E).

After the amniotic fluid is removed, the abortionist uses a sopher clamp — a grasping instrument with rows of sharp “teeth” — to grasp and pull the baby’s arms and legs, tearing the limbs from the child’s body.
The abortionist continues to grasp intestines, spine, heart, lungs, and any other limbs or body parts. The most difficult part of the procedure is usually finding, grasping and crushing the baby’s head.
After removing pieces of the child’s skull, the abortionist uses a curette to scrape the uterus and remove the placenta and any remaining parts of the baby.
Given those facts, another argument gets used to justify late-term abortions: they’re only done when “medically necessary.”
They’re not. There’s also no federal restrictions on when an abortion can take place; some states don’t impose any either. So why might a late-term abortion happen? Well, Gary Cross got Planned Parenthood to arrange one on his 13-year-old stepdaughter after he raped her. By destroying the evidence, Planned Parenthood allowed her abuse to continue undetected.
New Mexico’s Southwestern Women’s Options performs induction abortions at up to 27 weeks for women who didn’t realize how far along they were, something a pregnant Live Action volunteer proved when she visited with a hidden camera.

Of course, late-term abortions don’t always go as planned. Gianna Jessen and Melissa Ohden were delivered during botched abortions. While both women survived, others aren’t so lucky: many survivors are killed or left to die. Live Action caught staff at a number of late-term abortion centers promising to do just that; one claimed surviving infants are put in “a jar of solution.”

If you’d like to see that change, tell your legislators to protect pain-capable children and abortion survivors. Further, say that you want judicial nominees who’ll uphold them. Because the fact is, even some abortion supporters recognize we’re dealing with babies here.
The law should too.
