What does the Bible say about abortion?

What does the Bible say about abortion?

I know, some of you may be reading this and not realize that it was ever even a debate.  And some of you may not care what the Bible has to say about anything.  But I find it absolutely bizarre that people can claim both to believe in what the Bible says and adamantly support abortion.  And yes, this does actually happen.

A few days ago I heard a really creative defense of abortion using Scriptures, and it seemed like a timely article to be written.
The Bible says when God was creating Adam and Eve, “ the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being”.  Many pro-choicers use this to say that life only begins when the baby is able to take its first breath (paying no attention to the miracle that is the baby using oxygen that comes through the umbilical cord). This completely ignores the fact that Adam, being the first man, is quite different from the others in that he was created in a different way because there was no woman and man to create life as it happens now.

So, are you ready to read what the Bible actually says about unborn children?  (Because I didn’t want to be writing this article forever, I only cite a few Scriptures…there are many, many more!)

  1. Rebekah’s children “struggled within her

But can something without life struggle? A blob of tissue cannot do this…

2. Jacob “took his brother by the heel in the womb

Dear Reader,

Every day in America, more than 2,800 preborn babies lose their lives to abortion.

That number should break our hearts and move us to action.

Ending this tragedy requires daily commitment from people like you who refuse to stay silent.

Millions read Live Action News each month — imagine the impact if each of us took a stand for life 365 days a year.

Right now, we’re urgently seeking 500 new Life Defenders (monthly donors) to join us before the end of October. And thanks to a generous $250,000 matching grant, your first monthly gift will be DOUBLED to help save lives and build a culture that protects the preborn.

Will you become one of the 500 today? Click here now to become a Live Action Life Defender and have your first gift doubled.

Together, we can end abortion and create a future where every child is cherished and every mother is supported.

Clearly, unborn children can struggle in the womb and grab each other. Can something that’s not alive do this?

3. Job questions, “Did not He who made me in the womb make them?  Did not the same One fashion us in the womb?”

Our life begins in the womb. God started working on us before we breathed outside our mother’s womb, so life itself has to begin before then too.

4.  Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus to Mary by saying she “will conceive in [her] womb and bring forth a Son

Ultimately, if you believe in both abortion and the Bible, you are holding incompatible beliefs, for the two cannot coexist.
