Pro-life watchdog Operation Rescue has received 911 records regarding an injury sustained by a 34-year-old abortion patient at Planned Parenthood in Hempstead, New York, on November 9.
The extent of the woman’s injuries is unknown, but the 911 report indicated that the woman was injured during a dilation and curettage (D&C) abortion. During this procedure, the abortionist uses a suction catheter inserted vaginally into the mother’s uterus to extract the preborn child. The curettage tool is used to scrape the uterine lining and ensure the all the body parts have been removed. Potential complications include damage to the uterus or cervix (which could potentially damage intestines, bladder, and nearby blood vessels), hemorrhage, infection, and in some rare cases, even death.
Operation Rescue also reported on two other abortion injuries that occurred at this facility in 2023, while noting that these instances were known only because pro-life witnesses were on-site to document the arrival of emergency personnel; other injuries may well have occurred of which the pro-life sidewalk counselors are unaware.
“Not only does abortion end the life of a child,” commented Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, “but the promises of ‘safe abortion’ shouted so loudly by supposed defenders of women’s rights prove, again and again, to be a pack of lies, just as it did for this woman. Abortion is not safe for anyone – not the baby, and not the mother.”
