A couple was left heartbroken after they were senselessly attacked by a mob of teens in Chicago, allegedly causing the pregnant woman to have a miscarriage. Just two teens have been arrested thus far… and they were only charged with misdemeanors.
The woman, who gave her name only as Nina, told Fox 32 that she and her husband were on a date in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood when they were attacked by a group of around 10 teens. Nina said her husband was held down, and both were kicked, punched, and stomped on; photos Nina provided Fox 32 showed clumps of her hair had been pulled out, as well as bruising all over her husband. Nina also said she had been pepper sprayed. As they were being attacked, Nina said she begged for the teens to leave them alone, saying she just wanted to go home to her child.
“They didn’t steal anything,” Nina said. “They said like, ‘We own the street. We own the street. You can’t walk around.’ I was wearing like a nice dress and heels. Like I was out on the date with my husband, and they dragged my dress on the ground, and they said, like, ‘we own the street. You can’t just walk around prancing in your little dress.’ And they were saying things that just didn’t make any sense to me because they don’t know me personally.”
There was no motive noted for the vicious attack. News reports claim Nina was “two weeks pregnant” without elaborating further, and was told after the attack that she had suffered a miscarriage. “We believe in faith, and it wasn’t meant to be,” she said through tears. “We don’t know why this happened to us.”
A tweet that shows the attack (see below) claims the woman was “visibly pregnant,” which could not have been the case if she was just two weeks pregnant. Therefore, many questions remain.
HORRIFIC: A pregnant woman and her husband, both of whom are white, were viciously attacked by a group of black youths in Chicago.

“Everything happened from behind us,” she said. “First, someone approached us and hit his head, punched him in the head. He looked back, and looked at me, and told me, ‘Run.’ So he wanted to protect me. Another lady came to me, and dragged me from my hair, with my hair, on the ground; I start screaming. She started pepper spraying me, right in the face, in the eyes. Another person starts stomping all over me, and my husband ran towards me to save me. He… over 10 people held him.”
When police finally arrived, the group of teenagers ran, with only two ultimately caught: a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl. Both were charged with just misdemeanors, and currently are not in custody. Alderman Brian Hopkins told Fox 32 he wants those charges by the district attorney upgraded to felonies with great bodily harm. “Both victims suffered extensive injuries,” he said. “And the medical examination is ongoing.”
