Planned Parenthood Spends 700 Million in Government Funds to Kill Nearly 400,000 Children in 2022-23

Washington, D.C. – Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion provider, released its 2022-2023 Annual Report, which shows that government revenue and violent abortions are up. 

Live Action News breaks down this new report: 

What has increased at Planned Parenthood since the last report?

• Abortion numbers (up by 5% since the last annual report; up 100% since 2000, to a record high of 392,715 abortions)
• Revenue, private revenue, and excess revenue
• Unspecified “miscarriage care” (possibly surgical abortions after failed chemical abortions) up by 36% in one year

What has decreased at Planned Parenthood since the last report?

• Client numbers (down by 4% since the last annual report; down 34% since 2006)
• Number of donors (down 21% in a year)
• Contraceptive services (includes counseling and care, down by 4% in a year; down 44% since 2009)
• Overall cancer screenings (breast exams and pap smears; a slight overall decrease of 1%, pap smears down 13.5%)
• Preventative care visits (down by 4%)
• Adoption referrals (down by 5%, with 228 abortions for every one adoption referral)
• Transgender services and other procedures (down by 30% from the 1500% increase a year prior)

Lila Rose, Founder and President of Live Action, released the following comment in reaction to this report:

Planned Parenthood kills nearly four hundred thousand American babies every year while receiving nearly seven hundred million dollars from taxpayers. Make no mistake, Planned Parenthood is not “terminating pregnancies” – it is violently murdering, through poison or by tearing limb from limb, living human children. Through grotesque public funding, our government makes every American taxpayer complicit in this killing. 

Planned Parenthood commits 228 abortions for each adoption referral and 62 abortions for each prenatal care service it provides. On a national scale, the corporation killed an average of 1,076 children daily through abortion, with approximately 45 dead children every hour, and one destroyed child every 80 seconds during 2022-23. Meanwhile, it received over $1.9 million in taxpayer funding daily, serving fewer clients with dwindling legitimate health services.

These numbers demonstrate that Planned Parenthood prioritizes killing preborn children over everything else — its business model relies on abortion and the “choice” Planned Parenthood offers women en masse is the destruction of their children, not parenting support, prenatal care, childcare, or other practical support for parents. I call on our leaders in Congress and the White House to come together to defund and shut down Planned Parenthood. Only by defunding every cent of money entrusted to the public good can we take the first step toward justice. Planned Parenthood must be defunded and shut down.
