Three persons, comprising two Israeli doctors and a Romanian employee, all specialized in in-vitro fertilization (IVF) were placed under inquiry in relation with an alleged traffic of human eggs, involving the clinic founded in Bucharest in 1999 by Israeli doctors. According to the preliminary results of the inquiry, the clinic was paying egg donors 800 to 1,000 leis (190 to 238 euros) when Romanian law prohibits such payments. Most of the egg recipients and IVFs were Israeli, Italian and British women.
