The Life Fest Film Festival has announced that the films October Baby and Doonby have been nominated for Best Film Honors. According to the festival organizers, both films “explore the importance of human life and the unique value of the human experience.” In addition, OneNowNews.com reports that actor Martin Sheen will receive the 2012 Spirit of Life Award for his efforts in opposing assisted suicide and abortion. In 2008, Sheen served as the spokesman for Washington state’s Coalition Against Assisted Suicide.
Life Fest organizers made the announcement in a press release e-mailed to members of the press.
Brian Johnson, director of the Life Fest Film Festival, says the purpose of the festival is to “affirm those stories and story tellers that explore the intrinsic value of life and the human experience.” Johnson, speaking of Doonby and October Baby, says the films “break through the cultural din to tell captivating stories that challenge our society’s views of the value and dignity of life.”
Life Fest Film Festival is in its second year. The festival showcases films that “reinforce the intrinsic worth of innocent human life and the profound significance of each life.” Brian Johnson adds that “the goal of Life Fest is to encourage more films like [Doonby and October Baby] that tell compelling stories celebrating the value and worth of our collective human experience.”
