According to a report from Operation Rescue, a woman having an elective abortion at Northland Family Planning in Westland, Michigan, suffered the complication of having a hole torn in her uterus.
The woman went to the facility on December 8, 2018, for her fourth abortion. According to an EMS Pre-Hospital Care Report available from the Westland Fire Department and obtained by Operation Rescue, the woman was experiencing severe pain despite the fact that she had been given fentanyl, a drug given for pain. The Care Report states:
Dispatched for possible uterine perforation following a medical procedure. […] Staff at facility st[ated] they were performing an elective abortion. Staff st[ated] during procedure that a possible uterine perforation occurred due to an excessive amount of fluid being discharged. [… Patient said] she has had three previous abortions with no complications.

The woman was taken to Garden City Hospital in Garden City, Michigan. Uterine perforation is one of the more common complications of surgical abortions. As former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino has stated, these are “blind” procedures in which an abortionist basically pokes around with the abortion tools and can easily punch or tear a hole in the delicate uterine lining.
According to Operation Rescue, Northland Family Planning runs a chain of facilities in Michigan and has a history of malpractice suits and failed health inspections.
