Canada cancels elective surgeries, but abortion businesses keep doors open

Canada

While elective and non-essential surgeries are being cancelled and postponed across Canada in order for medical care to be focused on patients with COVID-19, abortion businesses will continue as usual.

“The people leading us here in the province absolutely see it as an essential service because it’s time sensitive and it’s medically necessary,” Rolanda Ryan, owner of the Athena Health Centre abortion facility in New Foundland and Labrador told CTVNews.

Each province is making its own decisions on which elective surgeries can proceed and which should be postponed, but they all agree that abortions will not be stopped – no matter how many people in the nation contract the coronavirus. They say this is because abortion is essential to women’s health.

One abortion facility even grouped abortion into the same category as cancer care.

“Emergency and urgent cases, such as traumas and cancer care, will continue,” said Geri Geldart, vice-president of clinical at New Brunswick’s Horizon Health Network. “Abortion services will continue as well.”

Abortion is not health care. Abortion isn’t actually medically necessary at any point. Saving a woman from an ectopic pregnancy (which is not an abortion) or another dangerous medical condition during pregnancy never requires a doctor to purposefully kill a preborn child before removing him from his mother’s womb. Pre-term deliveries and emergency C-sections allow a doctor to save a woman’s life and hopefully the child’s as well.

Still, abortion proponents in Canada are ensuring that abortion will proceed as usual and in doing so are ensuring that they continue to profit from the intentional killing of innocent human beings. They are also failing to support medical personnel. In hospitals throughout Canada, doctors and nurses are fighting to save human lives from COVID-19 and could desperately use personal protective gear being used by abortion facilities. Two Toronto hospitals have already begun rationing protective gear, which puts the health and lives of nurses, doctors, and other medical staff at risk from contracting the virus.

In addition, by remaining open, abortionists will needlessly risk exposing their patients to COVID-19. Not only are they at risk when inside the abortion facilities, but when inevitable emergencies occur during botched abortions, these women will end up in the emergency room alongside patients with COVID-19. In an already overwhelmed hospital, adding patients who are experiencing major complications from an elective surgery is going to cause more people to suffer.

Rather than putting women and the country first, Canadian abortionists are continuing with the false narrative that abortion is medically necessary only so they can continue to make money killing, instead of stepping in to help save lives as they should and could during this devastating global pandemic.
