Abortion maintained its position as the leading cause of death globally for 2020, with 42.7 million preborn human beings killed, according to Worldometer. This number is slightly up from the 42.4 million preborn babies who died by abortion in 2019.
According to Breitbart, Worldometer — which has been voted one of the best free reference websites by the American Library Association — tracks major global statistics annually. Based on those statistics, there were more deaths from abortion in 2020 than all deaths from cancer, malaria, HIV/AIDS, smoking, alcohol, and traffic accidents combined.
Worldometer’s abortion statistics are based on the number of abortions published by the World Health Organization, which actually promoted DIY “self-managed” abortions amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Global deaths from COVID-19 totaled 1.8 million in 2020.
Though the phrase “safe, legal, and rare” has been used by abortion advocates from President Bill Clinton to former Planned Parenthood president Dr. Leana Wen, the abortion industry has an undeniable agenda to expand abortion and increase its numbers. And after decades of downplaying abortion, they are finally vocalizing their full-throated support for it.

In 2014, abortion advocate Laura Kacere listed her problems with advocating for abortion to be rare. Among her list of complaints was that “abortion isn’t bad,” it isn’t “something to be ashamed of,” and “reducing… the rate of abortion” should not be a societal goal.
Just this month, current Planned Parenthood president Alexis McGill Johnson essentially said the same, calling abortion a “critically important part of what we do” and insisting that the abortion corporation should steer away from claiming abortion is only a small part of their services.
“[I]t is still a critically important part of what we do,” she said. “So I think when we say, ‘It’s a small part of what we do,’ what we’re doing is actually stigmatizing it. Like it’s really not a big deal that Planned Parenthood does this. We are a proud abortion provider. We believe that abortion is health care, and we believe, fundamentally, that self-determination begins with being able to control your own body and freedom begins with being able to control your own body. So I don’t like to marginalize it in that way.”
Planned Parenthood committed a record 345,672 abortions in the U.S. in 2018, despite a continued trend of decreased abortion numbers in the US. Despite the abortion giant’s claim that abortion is health care, there is never a need for abortion — which is the intentional killing of a preborn human being — medical or otherwise. As abortionist Don Sloan has admitted:
If a woman with a serious illness – heart disease, say, or diabetes – gets pregnant, the abortion procedure may be as dangerous for her as going through pregnancy … with diseases like lupus, multiple sclerosis, even breast cancer, the chance that pregnancy will make the disease worse is no greater that the chance that the disease will either stay the same or improve. And medical technology has advanced to a point where even women with diabetes and kidney disease can be seen through a pregnancy safely by a doctor who knows what he’s doing. We’ve come a long way since my mother’s time….
The idea of abortion to save the mothers’ life is something that people cling to because it sounds noble and pure – but medically speaking, it probably doesn’t exist. It’s a real stretch of our thinking.
Nearly three-quarters of women who have undergone abortions and sought post-abortion care admitted they faced pressure to abort. Many of these women will suffer the consequences of abortion trauma, including depression, alcohol and drug use, and suicidal thoughts.
