If there’s anything President Obama is, it’s pro-choice (or whatever it is his BFFs at Planned Parenthood are calling it these days). He has made it very clear throughout his political career that he is completely and totally in favor of killing any unborn child whose mother wishes her dead. He is also in favor of letting born children die without medical treatment that could very well save them. He believes that violence in the womb has zero connection to the violence that occurs against children, women, minorities, and homosexuals. Yet he speaks as if he is an advocate for the weakest among us, rather than an advocate for the destruction of 55 million lives over 40 years.
In his inauguration speech today, President Obama spoke many inspiring words, but combined with his pro-abortion beliefs, many of these words are meaningless terms of deception:
1. … a great nation must care for the vulnerable.
This is absolutely true. In order to be a great nation, the United States should care for the most vulnerable, but we don’t. Under Obama, we continue to turn our backs on women and children. We continue to believe as a nation that the only way to “help” women (especially poor women) is to tell them to kill their own children. When we do this, we aren’t caring for, but rather destroying two of the most vulnerable of people: the distraught mother and her soon-to-be murdered innocent child.
2. Our journey is not complete until all our children … know that they are cared for, and cherished, and always safe from harm.
Did you know that the most dangerous place for a child with Down syndrome isn’t at school, or a movie theater, or the mall, but in his mother’s womb? Ninety percent of children with Down syndrome are aborted. The womb has become a grave for many children. Fifty-five million in 40 years.
3. What makes us exceptional – what makes us American – is our allegiance to an idea, articulated in a declaration made more than two centuries ago: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.’ … The patriots of 1776 did not fight to replace the tyranny of a king with the privileges of a few or the rule of a mob. They gave to us a Republic, a government of, and by, and for the people, entrusting each generation to keep safe our founding creed.
Our founding creed makes it simple, as Obama said: “All men are created equal … with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life[.]” We are created at conception, not at birth. The last four generations of pro-abortion politicians have done nothing but work against this, including Obama. Every day he is in office, he is working against this founding creed that he speaks so highly of.
4. We are true to our creed when a little girl born into the bleakest poverty knows that she has the same chance to succeed as anybody else, because she is an American, she is free, and she is equal, not just in the eyes of God but also in our own.
We are never true to our creed when it comes to little girls, because we have decided that little girls don’t deserve to be protected from sex-selective abortions. And we tell lower-income women that they aren’t good enough to raise their babies, and then advise them to kill those babies, setting the stage for a bleak future. Abortion does nothing to pull people out of poverty.
5. … we must be a source of hope to the poor, the sick, the marginalized, the victims of prejudice – not out of mere charity, but because peace in our time requires the constant advance of those principles that our common creed describes: tolerance and opportunity; human dignity and justice.
To be a source of hope does not mean we tell mothers that the lives of their unborn disabled children are meaningless and worthless and advise them to abort. It does not mean that we tell the poor that they aren’t good enough to take care of their children. And it doesn’t mean that we kill innocent people simply because they are disabled or ill. None of these acts, which occur every day in America, show tolerance or provide justice.
6. That is our generation’s task – to make these words, these rights, these values – of Life, and Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness – real for every American.
If this is true, Mr. President, will you please start with the weakest among us and make it your task to ensure that every American, created equal as you stated, is protected from harm? Make it your task that the right to life be no longer denied to so many American children before they even have the chance to be held in their mothers’ arms.
