A non-profit organization dedicated to tracking information on political campaign finances and government lobbying has revealed that Planned Parenthood is spending massive amounts of money since the fall of Roe v. Wade.
OpenSecrets released a report revealing that the Planned Parenthood Action Fund has spent “unprecedented” sums of money on lobbying in the past three months, the most they have ever spent in the second quarter of a year.
“Planned Parenthood Action Fund spent over $739,000 in the first half of 2022 on federal lobbying on issues including abortion access, with about $170,000 spent in the year’s first quarter. This comes after the organization reported a 4,000% increase in donations after the Supreme Court released its Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization majority opinion in June,” OpenSecrets explained. “Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s pressure campaign has focused on lobbying for the nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, as well as pushing for key bills in the U.S. House and Senate.”
They also lobbied in favor of the failed Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), and for female service members to be able to get abortions in the military.

Similar efforts were made in Kansas by abortion groups, including Planned Parenthood, though they were successful in that instance. The Value Them Both amendment would have stated that the Kansas constitution contains no right to abortion, allowing legislators to enact their own laws on abortion. Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry spent massive amounts of money to fight back, and presented it as an issue of “constitutional freedom” rather than of abortion.
The Washington Post reported that Planned Parenthood spent $1.4 million just in opposing the Value Them Both amendment.
Planned Parenthood is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to influence government actions, all while receiving nearly $6 billion in taxpayer dollars over the last decade. This is despite the fact that they reported $1 billion in excess revenue over expenses from 2010 through 2020; total revenue was $14 billion. And in that same 10-year time period, Planned Parenthood committed over 3.3 million abortions.
The numbers don’t lie: Planned Parenthood is a massive organization with immense power and influence.
