In April, pro-life students at Oregon State University faced the ire of a pro-abortion crowd which has consistently engaged in angry attacks and vandalism aimed at the pro-lifers.
Campus Reform reports that pro-life groups at OSU have been the frequent target of harassment from those who disagree with those who view abortion as the unjust killing of innocent human beings.
The OSU chapter of Students For Life alleged that their Cemetery of the Innocents, a monument dedicated to the memory of the victims of abortion, was vandalized on April 27, with the pink flags erected being strewn across the ground. It has even been suggested that on-campus abortion advocates are coordinating attacks on the pro-life group through the Snapchat app. Video obtained by Campus Reform reveals a pro-abortion group dismantling the display.
Students for Life OSU president Rebecca Lang told Campus Reform about the incident. “Many of them began to curse, shout, flip us off, kick the flags over and throw them into the quad grass,” she explained. “By the afternoon our freshman club member found out that the students were organizing themselves on a private Snapchat group of freshmen at the university to vandalize and steal our property and encourage others who were a part of the group.”
After the pro-life student group hosted a presentation by former Planned Parenthood manager Mayra Rodriguez, pro-abortion students posted flyers around campus that stated in bold letters, “Keep Pro-Lifers Off Campus” and stating that pro-life “rhetoric is not welcome at OSU.”
Despite the increased vitriol, Lang insists that they will not back down from being pro-life.
“No amount of backlash, vandalism, crime, or threats of violence are going to stop us from telling the truth about abortion and offering women, hope, healing, and real resources so that they can choose life for their unborn children and continue to follow their dreams and aspirations at OSU,” said Lang.
The university is also receiving criticism for a recent on-campus “Illegal Drag Show” hosted by the LGBTQ+ group Rainbow Continuum, where young children in the “open to all ages” audience were reportedly exposed to nudity.
Oregon is a heavily pro-abortion state. In 2022, the state began supporting an initiative to send mobile abortion units to “to rural parts of the state and communities of color.”
