Pro-abortion activists are once again using a drone to deliver abortion pills to a pro-life country, this time for symbolic reasons rather than to provide abortions. The drop will take place next Tuesday.
The groups, including Women on Waves and Labour Alternative, will fly the drone from Ireland to Northern Ireland over the Newry River. There, organizers say, non-pregnant women will take the pills, meaning their use will not be illegal.
“The purpose of taking the pills is to show they are safe because in the North [Northern Ireland] there is a lot of scaremongering around the issue,” Labour Alternative spokeswoman Courtney Robinson said.
However, as former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino explains as part of Live Action’s Abortion Procedures project, the abortion pill carries substantial health risks, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headaches, and potentially even maternal deaths from infections or undiagnosed ectopic pregnancies.
Ireland, which bans abortions for any reason other than physical danger to the mother, has come under ongoing global pressure from the United Nations, Amnesty International, and others for its protection of preborn babies. However, unmentioned by the critics is the fact that Ireland’s maternal mortality rate is lower than that of the United Kingdom, Canada, France, the United States, and Germany.
Pro-abortion activists began using drones as part of their advocacy last year, when Women on Waves launched one from Germany to deliver illegal abortion pills in Poland.
