Ambulance called to Michigan abortion facility for life-threatening injury
A troubling report from Operation Rescue reveals that a Michigan abortion facility with a checkered past continues to have problems. On April 27, an ambulance was dispatched to Eastland Woman’s Center in Eastpointe, Michigan, after 911 requests for a woman in distress. According to the Computer Aided Dispatch report, the 25-year old woman was suffering from tachycardia and a possible perforated uterus.
A perforated uterus is a serious complication of abortion, and can often result in hemorrhaging and a significant loss of blood. Tachycardia is a condition in which the heart beats abnormally fast, and it can result in cardiac arrest or heart failure.
“It appears this young woman was suffering a life-threatening condition as the result of a botched abortion,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “It’s not surprising considering the troubled abortionists that work at Eastland Women’s Center. Women need to know that there are issues at this facility that could put their lives at risk.”

As Newman mentioned, Eastland Women’s Center has been linked to problems in the past. Its owner and operator, Angel Ojeda, was placed on probation in 2017 after it was discovered that he failed to properly secure drugs and he failed to disclose the theft of drugs, including the dangerous substance Fentanyl. The drugs were stolen by Ojeda’s former employee, Michael Roth, whose clandestine abortions earned him the moniker the “Trunk Abortionist.” In 2015, R0th was convicted of stealing items from the Eastland Women’s Center so that he could perform abortions out of the trunk of his car. When police arrested him, they found 14 tubs in his vehicle containing the remains of aborted babies.

The facility’s current abortionist, Martin Ruddock, was once arrested for assault and he was fined in 2015 for sedating patients without the proper licensing. According to Operation Rescue, Ruddock is known to wear a butcher’s apron when he conducts abortions.
Operation Rescue’s Newman believes that Eastland Women’s Center is only open today because the public is unaware of its troubled past. “The abortionists at Eastland Women’s Center are nothing less than a rogues gallery of criminals and quacks,” he said. “This abortion facility is only able to stay in business because the sordid history of this place and those who work there is virtually unknown to the public. Just based on the criminal conduct related to the Trunk Abortionist Michael Roth, this facility should have been shut down years ago.”
Editor’s Note, 6/3/19: A previous version named the city as Eastland. It has now been corrected to Eastpointe.
