I find it very interesting that parts of the country where Planned Parenthood is heavily located have high STD rates. Now some would say that this shows Planned Parenthood has placed their clinics in the right places, but the problem is that STD rates remain high and are often rising in places that Planned Parenthood has heavily operated in for years.
The latest example:
San Diego 6 is reporting: STDs on the Rise in San Diego
Of 56 counties in California, San Diego ranks second for syphilis, and 10th for Chlamydia and gonorrhea.
And California state data shows that the Chlamydia in San Diego has gone up every year for the past 5 years.
Does evidence like this make Planned Parenthood re-think their flawed sexual education methods?
Of course not. What we see is that they use statistics showing increasing STD rates to justify increasing their budget, which ultimately does nothing to bring down STD rates and just expands the abortion industry.
And now for a look at how many clinics Planned Parenthood has in San Diego (this list comes from PlannedParenthood.org):

Planned Parenthood’s sexual education, which emphasizes how to be sexually active Planned Parenthood style (with a condom or birth-control pill), needs serious rethinking as the data shows.
The actual results of Planned Parenthood’s efforts is that young people hear this message and become sexually active…and get STDs…and become pregnant with a child. This problem is illustrated by the 17.4% of sexually active girls under “typical condom use” who still get pregnant EVERY YEAR. These are people doing things Planned Parenthood style, and look at the results…not good. Also, condoms do not protect against all STDs.
Many others only use the Pill (I won’t get into other health and abortifacient effects here), which doesn’t stop STDs. In short, I believe that Planned Parenthood’s encouraged sexualization of youth is a disaster because young people are not able in large numbers to be sexually active in a responsible way that doesn’t lead to significant STD and pregnancy rates.
What does work? Well, 50 years ago when far more young people were sexually restrained, we did not have nearly the STD or “unwanted” child problem we have today. Having a general understanding of condoms, etc is fine in my view, but when that education is done in a way that promotes the expectations that youth are supposed to be engaging in sexual behavior, a terrible expectation is set and fulfilled — and with it a wave of STDs and “unwanted” children often lose their lives.
