During a Rose Garden celebration of teachers on Monday, President Biden quoted National Teacher of the Year Rebecka Peterson’s application letter in which she wrote, “there is no such thing as somebody else’s child.” Biden took it a step further to claim that all of our children belong to the nation as a whole — a statement that struck a nerve with many, who insisted that children belong to their parents and not to the state. But regardless of the intended meaning behind the statement, our nation ignores the deaths of thousands of its children every single day — with the Biden administration doing its best to ensure that more of these children are killed in abortion.
Ask most teachers and they will tell you that they refer to their students as “my kids” and that is what it appears Peterson was referencing in her application responses, which she addressed to other teachers. Biden, however, said:
Rebecka put a teacher’s creed into words when she said “There is no such thing as someone else’s child.” No such thing as someone else’s child.
Our nation’s children are all our children.
If the sentiment is that our nation should care for children, then why is the Biden administration working to increase the direct and intentional killing of our nation’s children before they draw their first breaths?
The administration has promoted abortion from day one, seeking to expand and pay for abortion despite decades of laws preventing the government from funding pro-abortion businesses and organizations. The administration has, in essence, put a target on the wombs of certain women — especially underprivileged and Black women — claiming that these women in particular need to kill their preborn children in order to save themselves from poverty or create a better future. It’s a false idea that has been a part of the pro-abortion agenda since the 1960s and 70s.
Communities of color have been disproportionately affected by abortion and that did not change in 2020, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). While the Biden administration and its pro-abortion allies claim abortion is necessary for minorities, abortion is historically tied to eugenics which frequently targets impoverished communities and people of color. Abortion doesn’t help poor women or women of color — it only kills their children, preventing more children of color from ever taking a breath. And more Black children have been killed by abortion than children of any other racial background.
The Biden administration has also been pushing to eradicate the Hyde Amendment in order to allow the federal government’s funding of abortion for women who qualify for Medicaid.
Data from the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute show that abortion rose by nearly eight percent (8%) in the U.S. from 2017 to 2020. That increase in abortion was accompanied by a six percent (6%) decline in births. But the Biden administration’s policies intend to increase abortion access — and therefore, will increase abortion.
Under Biden, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has removed safety protocols (such as in-person visits to determine ectopic risk and accurate gestational age) put in place more than 20 years ago on the abortion pill, putting women in danger for the sole purpose of ensuring greater access to the deadly drug cocktail. An estimated 5.6 million preborn human beings have been killed via use of these drugs in the U.S.
Just last week, the Biden administration announced it is launching a national hotline to potentially direct women facing unplanned pregnancies to abortion businesses. In a press release, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra said, “The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to protecting women’s lawful access to reproductive health care, including abortion care. President Biden signed not one but two executive orders calling on HHS to take action to meet this moment and we have wasted no time in doing so. Today’s action is yet another important step HHS is taking to protect patients accessing critical care.”
In 2020, 930,160 of the nation’s preborn children were violently killed by abortion. By not protecting these children and advocating for their deaths under the auspices of “reproductive rights,” the death total of these children in our nation is likely to rise.
