Dangerous Illinois abortion facility injures three women in under two months

The Hope Clinic for Women in Granite City, Illinois, has sent three more women to the emergency room, all in less than two months.

Operation Rescue reported that the emergencies took place in August and September, with all of the details given to 911 dispatchers being vague and non-descriptive.

The first emergency took place on August 4, when an ambulance was requested. “We have a patient that needs to be transferred,” the staffer began. “She needs to go to a higher level of care for evaluation.” While it’s not unusual for abortion facility staffers to downplay a woman’s injuries, in this circumstance, the 911 dispatcher asked no questions whatsoever. That meant EMS personnel were dispatched without any knowledge of the emergency they were being sent to, or what kind of care was needed.

Just over one month later, on September 7, another emergency took place. Again, the facility staffer was vague. “We have a patient we need to transfer to Barnes,” she said. “She is having some bleeding.” The dispatcher asked how old the patient was, and the staffer ignored the question, repeating, “Currently she’s stable, but yes, we do need her to go to Barnes.”

The dispatcher again asked how old the patient was, and the staffer finally answered that she was 35, and though she said the bleeding was controlled, she added, “We do need someone ASAP.”

Finally, on September 29th, the third emergency occurred. “We have a patient who is here for a procedure who needs to go to Barnes for sedation purposes,” the staffer said. Again, the information given was vague; the dispatcher asked if it was post-op sedation, and the staffer responded, “Yeah, kinda!” No further explanation was given.

These emergencies are part of the 17 known injuries this year alone for Hope Clinic, which has become notorious for this reason. Less than a year ago, one staffer was heard cavalierly laughing on a 911 call after a woman was injured.

“Time after time, we have said that abortion is not safe,” Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said in a statement. “Not only does a baby’s life end in a terrible way – dismembered in most cases – but many women are rushed to an emergency room after serious complications like perforations, hemorrhages, seizures, and more. And this so-called ‘clinic,’ is one of the worst. It is no wonder the staff tries to hide the injuries of their patients with what appears to be code language – all to minimize the risks of being discovered. Such disdain for the value of women should not be left unchecked.”
