Operation Rescue has launched their inaugural Veritas Award. Named after the Latin word for truth, the award will be given each year to “an abortion supporter whose words or actions are so powerfully truthful about the reality and barbarity of abortion that they advance the pro-life cause.” And their first ever recipient is none other than Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Deborah Nucatola.

Operation Rescue President Troy Newman explained why they decided to create the award, saying, “For abortionists, there are two ways to speak about abortion. First is the scripted ‘Orwellian’ rhetoric that sanitizes abortion, which is used to influence public support. Then there is the unvarnished truth spoken in unguarded moments without public relations in mind. When abortionists speak about their work candidly and truthfully, they actually prove in the most powerful ways why abortion cannot be tolerated in a civilized society.”

So obviously, Nucatola is a great choice for the first annual Veritas Award. The Planned Parenthood director shot to notoriety last year, when she was caught on camera describing how she selectively crushes babies’ organs during abortions so they can be harvested and sold. She was featured in the first video released by the Center for Medical Progress.

In the video, Nucatola casually discusses, over lunch, how she modifies abortion procedures to make sure the requested body parts can be harvested:

We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.

Selling the body parts of aborted babies is, of course, illegal. And this first video set off a firestorm that had Planned Parenthood in panic mode for the rest of the year. The sight of Nucatola casually chomping on salad and drinking wine as she discussed the best way to crush and dismember preborn babies was horrifying to Americans.
